So it was about three months agoMy interest in game creation was renewedJust thought I'd letcha knowThat now it's an interest I don't includeIn my top priorities I don't have time for such a thingNow I'm busy getting busy in sororitiesAnd makin' money to pay for my blingAn RPG entry from duckmanIs not to be expectedIt's not because I suck, manOther interests have been selected
So you'll be taking a break from game making for a couple weeks or so? s cool
I approve of this blog.
The message is disappointing though.I never touched GM for 2 years. I started using it again only to finish Plactoid (I couldn't let that game go unfinished). After finishing that game, I had a renewed interest in game creation (creating a game in under a week). Now that I have started working, I get home, eat, watch TV/internet and go to sleep (I am drunk on the weekends). I don't have much time to create any content and I don't have enough interest in it to make time.
I may be stopping all together myself and moving on.
I too stopped making games about two years ago, leaving my last project unfinished. But only because I couldn't figure out why it was topping in the millions on cpu usage.
Looks like a couple people don't like em.
I've always had a real problem with the way people act on this site and it seems like more often than not, I am just making games for myself while everyone else does their own thing. And that's fine. But I've had enough. You're not alone, Rez. But if it's something you really enjoy, I say keep at it.
I've expressed a lot about how much I like your games. And other people do, too. Maybe you just don't see it, but I think your games get more attention than most other people here.Though that attention is dying. But that's just because everyone else here is moving on. There are still other sites though, and indie development is in a huge boom right now. There's no better time to be interested in this sort of thing.I've given up on 64Digits for game design. But I'm still doing it for myself, and because I still have other options.Don't get me wrong though. You can ask Cyrus how much I gripe about it. When you don't get any comments for doing a lot of work, it's disheartening. I know. This competition is going to be my last. It's always good to have other options.
But I don't think it's a good idea to put down something you're good at. Sure, Interest will wane in one sector. But you can expand further in other areas of the net. Like Kilin said, Indie Development is huge right now and you seem to have a really good grasp of game design. Not to mention, you're young too. Just in that fact you have a better chance at true success then others in the same field. Personally, I would hate it if you stopped making games Rez, because you're one of the few people here I can measure myself against.
