Why is FireFox better?

My friend needs some reasons why FireFox is better than IE, or anything else. :) I'm sure you won't have any problems coming up with any.

I have "fixed" my computer! I installed Windows XP Pro and it seems to have worked like magic. Except everything that uses a key is no longer registered (eg. Game Maker 7, Flash, and I don't know what else.)

My start menu is pretty much empty… Now I have to make shortcuts for everything. I backed up my drive on an external hard drive but it didn't work. Nothing was deleted, but like I said, everything is unregistered.

~Game Maker~

So I'm pretty much finished with Game Maker unless soft wrap adds another subscription to my code, so I can unlock game maker. I am going to start using Flash a lot but it is going to take me a while to learn ActionScript and how to use Flash.

I'm kinda disappointed since all of last night my computer was screwed up and the was my last night to stay up really late <_<.

If anyone has a GM7 key they haven't used up, I would appreciate taking a peek at it. =0

Firefox shows people that you aren't a n00b who has to rely on Microsoft for everything. As does OpenOffice.

Tell him to just use it for a week before he starts balking.

Reasons Firefox is better than IE:

1) Although it doesn't follow EVERY standard, it is a much more standards-compliant browser. This means that if he switches to Firefox, that's one less person web developers have to worry about. If browsers wers standards-compliant, we'd be able to have richer web content quicker because development doesn't have to be done to tailor to different browsers.

2) Firefox has plugins you can add for extending its functionality. For instance, I have weather plugin called Forecastfox that gives me a local radar, weather conditions for today and following days, and a severe weather alert.

3) You can personalize Firefox with themes (skins)

4) It's free software. He probably won't care though. See gnu.org for details.

5) Firefox isn't integrated into Windows. If you go to a website that pwns your browser, it won't bring Windows down with it.

6) User-friendly preferences. In IE, preferences look annoyingly complicated. It's much nicer to look at in Firefox.

F1ak3r: You use OpenOffice? It's great!

My 3 favorite reasons are:

1) You can go straight back to the pages you were on if your computer crashes.

2) Skins.

3) Undo closed tab button (very useful XD)

What arc and edmun said, but with particular emphasis on the extensions, particularly things like Torbutton, to activate Tor, noscript, adblock, etc. for security, making it one of the safest browsers around.

I also use OpenOffice.

The only thing bad about Firefox is its stability. It's notorious for randomly having huge spikes in CPU usage.

melee: That's the honest truth. Firefox crashes so much when I'm running other programs with it.
