So, I was at wal-mart the other day when I was overjoyed to see Portal on sale by itself for the PC for about 20 bucks. I grabbed the game and headed to the express line as I only had one other item, now it seems every time I go thru this express line I get ID'd by the damn woman who runs it (and it is always this one lady, I suspect she lives at wal-mart in the small cranny between the cigarettes and the chewing tobacco rack) a short list of things I have gotten ID'd for: glue(damn kids will get high off of it), acrylic paint(I don't even know what the justification for the age requirement is for this, who gets messed up on acrylic paint?), spray paint(damn kids will get high off of it, then vandalize wal-mart), markers(damn kids will get high off of it), exacto knife(Stupid little bastards might cut themselves) and so on. Anyway, today I suspected no problems but as she scanned Portal I heard the dreaded beeping noise i have heard many a time before in this very same checkout line, she looks up at me and goes, "Are you 17?" and I respond, "yes" and then she wants me to prove it, I have no I.D. and I tell her that. She tells me she can't sell me the game, I give her $1.97 for the fish food I was buying and leave the store, extremely disappointed. As I leave I realize that Portal unlike the Orange Box is rated "T" for Teen, since when do i need to be 17 to buy a game rated for 13 year olds? Bah!
This is my first post on 64Digits so thanks for reading if you did, I recently started using game maker 6 again, so I'm going to make and upload some stuff this week.-jias
Hooray for Portal.
Also, Company of Heroes for instance, is rated 18+ here. I didn't had any problems buying it, and I don't really look like I'm 18 xDJust try again, I would say ;)Haha. Here in South Africa a toddler can walk out with Manhunt and the cashier won't even bat an eye.
The ratings are stupid anyway. They're made up by some retard who probably only reads the manual of the game. A game like Age of Empires is considered more violent than Halo? Come on…
Portal rocks.
Get it from steam or something, if it's easier.buy it from gamestop.
i'm under 17 and they let me buy halo. The wouldn't let me buy Gears of War a month before my 18th birthday.
I'm 15, and I got GoW without a fuss. ^_^
