All right, kiddos, it's that time. I'm working on an RPG, as you may all know, and I ocassionally update.
This RPG I am working on is known as Dual Dreams.Dual Dreams takes place in a world on the edge: a world where there are two opposed continents. There is one continent that has the idea of freedom; they are subjugated to the other continent but want to be free because the King is an evil one who seeks self gain above all else. The other is that of the King; the mainland. They are neutral to the king; he is just a leader to whom they pay taxes. He does not enrange his homeland as such would be suicide. This state of the world has led to a group opposed to the king to sprout up in the city of Erosion; the heart of the subjugated continent. This group is slowly gaining steam and getting political and militaristic power. Chase Norman, a boy of 17 at the time, joined in this rebellion. He was proud to be a soldier ready to fight for his homeland. However, a few years later, there are leadership changes. This leadership change has brought forth a girl to the head of the army, a girl roughly Chase's age. She has a vendetta against men and specifically Chase. Chase, knowing what was best for him, left the resistance. So, Chase stayed in Erosion for a bit and later left it abruptly for undisclosed reasons. He wondered southward into Istok, where he would meet the mercenary that would turn his life around. Features-This is the first Full-Fledged RPG in Game Maker-Realtime Battle System-Intriguing Story With Surprising Plot Twists-AI Tactics Control. You can tell your AI what you want them to do, and they'll do it. -Skill and Magic System-Giant Sidequests-Twelve Possible EndingsPositionsHere's what I need and what you can do:Dungeon & General Area DesignYou basically design dungeons, towns, houses, ect. When you have them drawn out, you then put them together in the game. This involves tiling, placing NPCs, placing blocks, and calculating warps. Tiling and Object DrawingBasically, you draw tiles and common objects found anywhere. Like, bookshelves, balls, hat racks, anything you'd find in a house or whever. NPC and Character DrawingYou basically design NPCs and the characters on the overworld, and then you sprite them. Background ArtistMake beautiful backgrounds to fight in. Magic and Skill DesignCome up with magical attacks and special moves for the characters and enemies to use. Enemy and Boss DesignWhat do enemies look like and how do they act? How do bosses act? What skills do they have?Sound EffectsFind sounds to fit situations. Dialogue ArtistThis is the actual characters speaking. I'll probably either do the mainframe of the speaking or give you the general idea. These guys just criticise it, add comedy, and make it generally better. Character ArtistsYou draw or sprite the character art. Polish AgentsBasically, these are the guys that make everything shine. If there is anything in the game that looks rough or unappealing, they say "Hey, let's make it look better!" and add the graphic, special effect, or sound effect to make it more aesthetically pleasing. Now, this requires skills at image manipulation software. You will need to draw backgrounds for menus and the like. If you are interested, tell me. Further, please sign up on GMClans and post:http://www.gmclans.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=7306&st=0And then tell me what you want to do. Anything helps. And, I mean anything. If you're willing to do anything I don't have to do, I'll have you. So, who wants to help? Credit will be given. There will also be a demo within a month.
Sounds very cliché to me
Good and evil is quite cliche, as RS said.
Hehe, well, it might look cliched, but I assure you, it's not. There's an entire backstory that is anything but cliched. I can't tell you though, becauseit'd be a spoiler.
Sounds like….Star Ocean.
The fonts: Get ones with anti-aliasing.
The original star ocean battle system was good. But, it was too inflexible. That had a bit of impact on this project. Really, it's like a cross between Star Ocean 1 and Tales of Eternia.
Yeah, I was trying to find out how to do that in game maker earlier. I'll keep searching, because I really do need those.nice idea. i thought that the first ever full-fledge RPG of game maker was Realms of Past Worlds?
That's an MMORPG. There are tons of MMORPGs being made with Game Maker. However, are there any classical story-driven real RPGs? No.
Now, someone's going to come along and say something clever like "ARK 22 LAWL." Ark 22 is not an RPG. They claim it is; but, it isn't. Does it have experience? Does the player need to level to beat the game? Is there any sort of stat-driven system at all? No. It's an Action Adventure. That is not an RPG.fair enough i guess. well with what i see, there isnt much wrong with it so keep it up :)
Looks good to me! Very nice, it's so… Different… From your other games too.
I was actually thinking about making an RPG the other day too though… Do you mind if I make the 2nd real GM RPG? :PAnd I would help, but I don't know if I'd do well enough at those things you need done for it. I'm just average with graphics, and not good at sound effects at all. You already seem to have a programmer and music composer working on it too, so yeah. :/
