I've been juggling this in my head the past couple of days and bottling up my anger about this. People today in this world seem to get obsessed over stupid things. Some stupid things are cool and rightly deserve such attention because of their utter surrealism. On the other hand, we have stupid things that try to be cool and fail miserably.

That is what I am writing this about. Now-a-days, American children everywhere seem to have an over-obsession with that known as anime. For some reason, if it's made in Japan and drawn prettily, it's worthy of worship in the minds of many. This is just ridiculous; people now-a-days do not care if something is well written or not; they just care for love, action, and "cool" phrases. It doesn't matter if the story is the same rehashed garble that's been used in every other show, it's still good to those fans. That makes me sick.

Therefore, I now have a fifteen second test to see if an anime is worth my time. If I can turn on the TV, watch an anime for fifteen seconds and not make fun of it until I turn the TV off, it's worth my time. I've done this five times so far: on Inuyasha, Full Metal Alchemist, Naruto, Bo-bo-bo-bo-bo-bo(or whatever), and Shin-whatnot(I forget; that new one on Adult Swim). Out of these five only two have any redeeming value and allowed me to watch it more without feeling like a moron. These two were Bo^7 and that new Adult Swim anime that's more of a parody than a real thing. The others I just turned on, identified something to make fun of, and I ran with it. It was so easy with those.

You know, most people don't have hope for humanity. Most of those people that don't have hope for humanity are helping to doom humanity. Only a sliver of people aren't hypocrites in this fashion.

Now, some of you may be jumping on me and saying, "Hey, this guy likes the Johnny games! Why should we listen to him?" I retort that by saying this: Johnny accomplishes what it seeks to do: be surrealistic and ridiculous. I like that. These animes I see attempt to be serious and dramatic, but only become stupid. I've never heard Johnny yell, "I KILL THEREFORE I AM" which makes absolutly no sense what-so-ever, but I have heard it in anime.

Now, I'm going to go off on another note here. There's another show I have a beef with that's not anime but is terribly overrated. That show is Family Guy. Now, I know half or more of you are probably angry at me already and now even madder because I'm insulting a popular animated comedy, but guys, it's not that great.

Look at Family Guy: all it does is joke about body parts, replay good jokes until they die and after, and insert cameos. Now, I'll admit Family Guy for a season is funny. The gags are new to the viewer then, but after that, they lose their comedy and all you can laugh at is the cameos and crude humor. Both aren't very funny at all and very unproffesional comedically.

Compare Family Guy to Futurama. Futurama has stable characters, good mostly non-crude jokes, and no overdone gags or if they are gags, they are made fresh each use. Futurama is a work of art, and watching it shows the low quality of Family Guy, The Simpsons, and possibly South Park from what I've seen of South Park.

Also, allow me to nag the characters: Family Guy only has two constant characters: Brian and Adam West. All the other characters are prone to change personalities as to stuff them into a gag that's not too funny. Most characters have morphed drastically from their original beings, one being Stewie. This is ridiculous.

So, in short, people need to start watching things that actually accomplish what they try to do. They do not need to watch shows that use rehashed plots and jokes.
