I just saved 60K by switching to Gecko!

Today, I decided to once again enter the browser market. I had entered it before when I got tired of all the ZOMIGOSH TEH FIREFOX ROXXORS, due to one guy that had just switched over to Firefox under peer pressure and thought it was the best Tuesday ever or something for him.

Anywho, I got sick of his talk and got this idea: let me find a browser other than the popular ones and brag about it while make fun of the Firefox people. This wasn't a serious search for a new browser, but I did find Maxthon while doing it and I've been using it since then.

Anywho, present day, I've been taking a look at more browsers for the fun of it. I downloaded K-Meleon a couple of days ago and that's been nice. I've also just downloaded Seamonkey, but that was a dissapointment.

For those of you who don't know, Maxthon is an IE shell that's quite nice, K-Meleon is a light weight Gecko browser, and SeaMonkey is one of many Mozilla browsers.

So, I run some pages. For the most part, common things render overall better on Maxthon than the Gecko browsers, both of which rendered a couple of things wrong. Maxthon, however, is slower on CSS, though.

Memory efficency is a different matter: K-Meleon used 60 K less than Maxthon and Seamonkey used 5 times more than the other two in one test.

So, overall, Seamonkey is a dissapointment. I'm also just downloaded Flock as I was typing this. That was a dissapointment too, like Firefox. For now though, Maxthon is staying my default browser.

Here's a task manager pic. (K-Meleon was running a lot faster than Maxthon this time, though. 0_o)

I threw IE 6.0 in there just for fun.

*edit*

Also, that Amino Browser posted on the GMC uses 25,425 K for memory. >.<

Anywho, on another subject, I'll probably have a Ryous Rex demo out within a month. I know you're all jumping up in down in your chairs with excitement, and I bet more than one of you don't get that I'm being sarcastic here. So, expect that demo to pop up on 64digits in a while. :P

BTW, I'm not MrKubus. I merely said that before just in case he ever read those. You see, I want someone to enjoy my blog, MrKubus being one of those someones.

MrKubus has my utmost respect, and has been a GMC member longer than I. Slandered, Ridiculed, but a pioneer of stylized gaming. One of the cores of the GMC community, way back when.

He also was one of the beggining members of the GMG, as well. He joined before me and I'm member #98. 0_o
