[luda] Departing from GM

Posted by ludamad on April 1, 2008, 8:45 p.m.

I've known about this merger for a while now, if anyone has noticed, I've been acting a bit oddly this past week. I'm not going to continue to be a part of the GM world, all its foul commercialism and loss of focus. Flashback and I are currently looking for alternate communities based on similar concepts. Josh(Dreamland) has recently approached us with a working ENIGMA beta, which has inspired the two of us to create an alternate ENIGMA community. The name is still up for grabs really, but we do have our basic philosophy:

1. More coding basis, it will not have the blogs of 64Digits, or even a general forum.

2. More community news, the news posts will be about the games, projects and not just about general topics. We will acknowledge great achievements.

3. Open-source support, there will be special features for large team and open-source projects, with special specialized forums for discussion of the game's development.

4. A special spectator version of the site that helps the person coming to play games.

Well, here's good luck to YoYodigits or whatever bastard abomination has just been born.

Even if you realy were leaving GM, I'd suggest finishing 64DigitsCards. THEN move on to ENIGMA.

Or, you know, finish it using enigma.

Finishing with ENIGMA is an idea, but if he's made as much progress as he tells me, why quit the GM version?

I don't know much about ENIGMA, but can it edit GM files? If so, then that makes it take over GM entirely. If people can continue old projects with better functions, that's an advantage.

Although I don't suppose ENIGMA's functions are exactly the same as GM's, in which case, flashback, you would be wrong.

"Although I don't suppose ENIGMA's functions are exactly the same as GM's, in which case, flashback, you would be wrong." ENIGMA's functions are exactly the same as GM's.

But are you?

@Luda: So, Josh and company kept the exact same phrases and you wouldn't need to change anything by converting your game to ENIGMA? Somehow, that surprises me. After all, Josh does hate GM.

@Red, FSX: The date has everything to do with it.
