Progress is being made:
That's right, the PSone screen and N64 are both crammed into that case. The game cartridge is inserted behind (not in sight). It was powered by this homemade battery (5 AAs taped together in series):But that battery couldn't sustain the 7.5v output with both N64 and PSone screen attached.I will need to buy a rechargable li-ion battery for this. (will need to be ~7.4v, 5000mAh+, and come with charger).Currently it is powered by the PSone screen power block which I rewired to go in place of where my battery was. Here is a bigger overview showing all the wiring so far (still got plenty more to do! Controller, fan, charger port, headphone jack, AV-out, other player ports…):
:O i envy you.
Do you know how to make that thing by studying yourself and experimenting or school? Or both?
It's mostly just research I carry out at the benheck forums. I read what other people have done and look at their diagrams (often messy) then using that information create my own diagrams and put it together.
As for the case side of things. I'm just making it up as I go along really. I originally found a nice case, then drew a mock up design in 3D, then looked into how I could create the case.I did buy the book by ben heck on how to make portable consoles, but it doesn't cover the N64 so I'm on my own, which in a way I prefer because I have freedom to do what I want, and I know it's all my own work.Sounds fun =)
Also, I can't read my own whispers anymore? WTF?Should make that 64D's banner
you call that portable! Its bigger than a wii!
