One month

Dominos 3

It has been exactly one month since I got my iTouch. One month since I started actual development on Dominos 3. Looking back, I've actually made a lot of progress.

A sign, a checkpoint flag, a domino and a spinny cross thingy. Oh, and a bush.

A load of dominos falling over, plus another spinny planky thingy.

Surfing on a domino on some spinny spinny thingies.

The images may look slightly torn, but it seems to only happen when I take screenshots, looks fine otherwise.

The graphics are by no means final. Suggestions are welcome, advice would be nice.

I've not managed to get as much work done as I'd like to have done, due to exams and coursework and life and stuff, but I'm definitely getting there. The main game engine is pretty much complete. Now I need to add in objects (such as those spinning cross shapes, rocks, and other stuff I think up). Need to make it more polished (scenery, effects, random cool stuff). Then I will need to develop levels, and of course a menu of some sorts, and at some point it would be cool to get some music in there as well.

I do not know exactly how long this project will take, but if I keep working at a steady pace, I reckon it should take no more than several more months and maybe a few more or less. Yes that is a vague estimate.

It all really depends on how much free time I get, which depends on what work I get set.

I wonder how much I will have got done one month from now. Oh yeah, I need to think of a better name for Dominos 3. I like the name "Dominos", however I think it would make potential buyers dismiss this game based on the presumption that it is a Domino game, when in fact it is a physics platformer.

Other news

In other news, I have watched several films recently:

-Avatar (in 3D wouldyoubelieveit!?)

-V for Vendetta

-Monty Python's The Meaning of Life

-Monty Python's Life of Brian

-The Hangover

-A Clockwork Orange

Any recommendations of good films that I should…obtain?

I'd forgotten that you'd reminded me about OpenTTD, and now you just reminded me again >=O

My OpenTTD AI, Chopper, is now my "most downloaded thing what I made ever", I think.

1) Chopper has about 26.6k downloads.

2) Dominos 2 has about 20k downloads.

3) Dominos 1 has about 10k downloads.

Dominos is kinda like Rolando which is a huge game on the apple touchy ranges… perhaps you could name the protagonist and have a storyline like the the winter edition and base the title around that ? :)

Like I said, Dominos is looking good and I just wish I had an iPod touch or an iPhone to play it on :(

Anyway, this SSSPRO website looks really good, whoever made it is a genius!!

@Dodoced

Best be joking D:

@Mat

Rolando does seem to be the most similar game to Dominos on the iPhone/iTouch. However the guys behind Rolando seem to have a nicely paid big team, so I shall have to take them on using my indie ingenuity! (whatever that means :P)

@eagly

lol ssspro sux. Only kidding! Whoever made it must be a pretty cool guy.

You better make a PC port of Dom3. Because I, like many people, don't have the money to buy an iTouch.

Though, if I took the ANDROID (sp?) development class at my local university, I do get a free one for the semester.

Dom3 looks pretty awesome, good luck on finishing it. Like Kilin said, a PC port would be awesome.

Yes. I saw this movie in class recently, it was pretty cool.

I will almost definitely be making a PC version of Dominos 3, though whether it is just a port of the iPhone version or a new game in its own right is yet to be decided. I suppose it depends on how the iPhone version turns out.

Port it. Much easier.
