Top 5 best games forgotten on SNES

Everyone knows that the SNES is one of the best consoles of all time and the snes era had an explosion of innovative and creative games that have affected the way games are made now.

However, there are some games that are forgotten by us gamers. Maybe they didn't sell right or maybe they where unappreciated at the time. I went through the archive and played and finished all the games on this list. They all deserve to be downloaded if they appear on the Wii's virtual console.

Top 5 best games fogotten on SNES

5. U.N Squadron

This game was made by Capcom, automatically beating 1942 (well the original not the current arcade, which rocks). The game follows a formula similar to most scrolling shooters like R-type and Grandis. The twist is that if you get hit more than twice, you have about 10 secods to stay alive cos any hit will kill you. That combined with the many enemies and bullets on screen, the fact that if you die you start again and the lack of a savepassword feature makes this game one of the hardest games scrolling shooters off all time. Still though, it is superior to most modern shooters(especially the Japaneses shooters, try this( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nscP9QpXoFM )).

A decent game none the less.

4. Mickey Mouse: The magical quest

Back in the day when Disney released wave after wave of animated franchises (each making enough money to feed a small country for a year. No, really.) , no one thought that they would make a game staring everyones favorite antrophomorphic , future keyblade wielding mouse king to take out the evil emperor Pete, save his dog and restore order to magic world.

Apart from the use of Capcom's classic platform engine and the fact that it was made by the guys that made the smash hit Aladdin(Snes version). The game allowed Mickey to change costumes to use special powers. One thing worth noting is that this is where Megaman Zero 2's staff got the idea to use a grappling hook.

3. Megaman X3

This is by far the best (and hardest) game in the X series. Released at the end of the SNES era, this game has it all. Hard ass bosses, Brilliant stage design, story (for a platform game made in this era it IS decent) and some of the best music in a Capcom game. This is the first game that allows you to play (briefly) as Zero, the red saber wielding reploid of lore (seen below).

This game is a rare gem. If you happen to find a copy made before 2000, get it and sell it on Ebay for 3 time the price of a SNES. It is worth that much, REALLY!!

2. Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island

If you look at any 100 best games of all time list you will see this game. The graphics are so superior you will have difficulty getting all of it done right, and IT was done right. Apart from the obvious Nintendo professional game play, the game started a whole sub franchise for Mario's Dino Buddie. The only reason I did not put it as number 1 is the fact that it was re-released on Gameboy and sold over 2 million copies. Not forgotten eh.

NBA Jam

A game written completely in assembly language? Did you expect a crappy game. How can people make something so good in such a hard way? This is the ultimate party game for basket ball fans as it requires only two players (both literally and game wise) to have a hell load of fun with this game. Don't expect to find O'Neil or Jordan here(the developers did not have the license to use them) but it beats Shaq-fu and Michael Jordan: Chaos in the Windy City (both worst games of all time).

And there you have it. If there are any games I missed feel free to comment.

No Zeldas? Yoshis Island was fun, and I beat it back in the SNES days, but I still think Super Mario World 1 was funner. (Yoshis Island was Super Mario World 2) Aladdin was a fun game, but I guessed the password to the last level and ruined the fun for myself.

I said forgotten games. Most of what you see here failed to reach the 1 million unit mark. They all have some acclaim though.

So that is where Capcom got the idea from. It is a capcom game though, but a common element.

NBA Jam is in 3D? Also, how'd you make that Mazimadu character with the spoon? Illustrator?
I used flash.
