1. Dawn of Civilization Rolling Demo: See the sights!

Ok, here's the 64dsystem link:

Download Rolling Demo

Release notes: The Dawn of Civilization engine uses a "small size, fast load time" system - with one drawback: the FIRST load time is extremely long. During the first load time, the game converts a small image into a full set of LOD-based map files and textures. Needless to say, this takes a while. Please be patient - it's the only alternative to having you download a 75-mb file.

The Rolling Demo requires ~ 70 mb of hard drive space. It has been somewhat optimized, but some users may still experience slowdowns during the demo. For those who experience this: The final game will allow you to turn off "embellishments" such as the reeds and small rocks in the rolling demo. Thus, the demo quality is in no way indicative of final performance.

The maximum framerate is 30; it's currently slow because buildings are unoptimized. When no buildings are drawn, the game runs at a full 30 fps. (even with an additional 700+ embellishment objects)

For those with speed issues, take heart: The full game will have a "detail control" setting - you will be able to turn off the rocks and reeds in the game to obtain higher speeds. In addition, I am trying my best to optimize buildings and get them to run faster.

Nice 3D use!!! That's pretty cool. However, there is nothing to do.. :( Very nice though.

Eric is wrong???

1. It was supposed to be a tech demo - a file made specifically to show the game's graphics engine. A gameplay demo will come later.

2. So far, two out of two people asked have said Eric. Are we just that afraid of offending the feminists? Optimally, as no other information was given, there should be an equal split of opinions between male and female names.
