It's no secret that I've been on/off with Game Maker for a very long time now. Hell, I'm sure most of you won't even recognize or remember me. I keep claiming I'm coming back, but I always get distracted or stressed out by life and leave again. However, the game I started back in 2006 (Project F-60. I wrote a lot of blog entries about it if you want to know more) was really, really close to being finished. After cutting a few things that I think were superfluous and time consuming, I decided that I really wanted to go back and finish at least this game. Just this one.
Then I look around the game and notice I don't have any audio. I had Purianite compose the music back in 2006/07, but I decided to try my hand at making the music myself right now. If you're reading this Purianite, nothing personal at all. I just want this game to be completed ASAP and I'm being kind of a control freak when it comes to this game (I want to get this finished at all costs with as little trouble as possible). I've also really wanted to start making my own music, and I think starting with this is the best way to begin that. So again, sorry about that if you're reading. So now with the game actually back in "production" now, I'm starting to rethink a couple things. For one, the whole cutscene stuff will go away. Too time consuming and it didn't add much to the game. I'm also adding two very simple extra modes for those who finish the main game. I want to add an enemy horde mode (simple enough to add) and a Boss survival mode (also simple enough). For the latter, if you've ever played Boss Battles or All-Star mode in Super Smash Bros, you'll know exactly what Boss survival is. You go through each boss of the game with only one life and try your hardest to beat as many as possible. I think it'll be a little reward for those who beat the game.I'll be coming up with more details about the game in the next coming days. I'm really certain that I'll be able to finish this in one way or another, so I'm genuinely excited about this now. No more BS, no more procrastination, no more holdups. I'm finishing this NO MATTER WHAT.*dies tomorrow*
You're going through the exact same thing I did, especially with the music thing and all that.
It's definitely worth it to finish the game- great feelings abound. And if you're like me, you'll discover that making music is much more enjoyable and career-worthy than game making.I wish I could use Game Maker…
Heh, I remember you back one or two years ago talking about finishing a few games during summer or something. I guess you didn't finish them.
I just went threw your blog and found some screen shots of Project F -60 and it looks very good, good luck finishing it!
I Dont think Purianite visits anymore
