Being a pro in any sport has GOT to be the dumbest thing to do for a career. All you do is play a game…for the rest of your life.
You contribute nothing to the human race except a few hours of entertainment. You're not out there to find cures for the most notorious of viruses. You're not out there to build upon cities, countries, or the human race. You're not out there to help others or benefit them in any way. You're not a doctor out there to help people live longer. You're not a lawyer to help people from injustice. You're not a politician to help countries be the best they could be (some of them, at least). You're not a teacher to help the next generation run the world better than it is being run now. You're not even a multi-million-dollar mogul owning a large company. You're just a game player. Your life is centered around a GAME. Something to do in your spare time. It's as if you're playing a videogame as a career. Minimal intellectual ability or education is required to play the game of your life. And yet, you win big in life. You win millions of dollars, live in mansions and are treated like a god. A god over a GAME. As if you received accolades and millions of dollars over how well you can play Monopoly. As if your sole purpose on Earth is about playing Halo and you live for nothing else.Nothing is wrong with sports. Nothing is wrong over getting some relaxation, playing a game, a little competiton. But when a complete human being exists on earth SOLELY for playing a game that should only be considered recreation is just a waste. What a waste of life.
Wow, a rant about something other than the state of indy game development. And I STILL agree with what you have to say.
I agree with you.
those guys get millions of dollars by playing, ugh, while others almost sweat blood working a company to earn those million of dollars.I disagree. They are way overpaid, but people obviously enjoy watching them or they wouldn't pay so much to go see the games. You say that they make a bunch of money because they are good at playing a game, well then, is there something wrong with singers making money because they can sing? How about scientists or doctors making money because they are smart? How about lawyers making money because they are good at lieing. They get paid because they are good at something just like every other profession.
^^ Ohhh nice point. I see nothing wrong with being a pro in a sport if thats what you want.
It's spelled 'lying', not 'lieing'. Sorry, that just drives me crazy.
What drives me even more crazy is that like most people, you generalize that all laywers are good for is lying. Seriously, how many lawyers have you actually MET?Dude, you're protecting the image of lawyers… thats a new low. XD
JakeX, attorney at lawI could fire you if I wanted to. Hell, I could fire ALL OF YOU. *holds up knife, hands shaking*
I'm calling my lawyer. XD
I'd like to be that good at a sport. So I don't have to die of stress at college. =P
