Rant-n-Rave #19

Being a pro in any sport has GOT to be the dumbest thing to do for a career. All you do is play a game…for the rest of your life.

You contribute nothing to the human race except a few hours of entertainment. You're not out there to find cures for the most notorious of viruses. You're not out there to build upon cities, countries, or the human race. You're not out there to help others or benefit them in any way. You're not a doctor out there to help people live longer. You're not a lawyer to help people from injustice. You're not a politician to help countries be the best they could be (some of them, at least). You're not a teacher to help the next generation run the world better than it is being run now. You're not even a multi-million-dollar mogul owning a large company.

You're just a game player. Your life is centered around a GAME. Something to do in your spare time. It's as if you're playing a videogame as a career. Minimal intellectual ability or education is required to play the game of your life.

And yet, you win big in life. You win millions of dollars, live in mansions and are treated like a god. A god over a GAME. As if you received accolades and millions of dollars over how well you can play Monopoly. As if your sole purpose on Earth is about playing Halo and you live for nothing else.

Nothing is wrong with sports. Nothing is wrong over getting some relaxation, playing a game, a little competiton. But when a complete human being exists on earth SOLELY for playing a game that should only be considered recreation is just a waste.

What a waste of life.

With out geometry, life's pointless.

Theres nothing wrong with that.

Those players train to get better at the game. Just like scientest study to discover new cures. They both work hard. The player works physicaly and the scientest work mentaly. THEY BOTH WORK HARD.

Do you think get get some guy that sucks and tell him youre playing with the (Example) Lakers. No, thats like saying getting a guy that sucks on science and giving him a job as a scientest. The players work hard so they can play professionaly. Just like a scientest works hard to become a scientest.They both work equally.

Wow never wrote this much in a post.

I personally disagree. It's a form of entertainment.

One thing I do agree upon however, is the fact that they're way overpaid.

^^ agree with the overpay. But should the pay between a player and a doctor be equal?

No… because the player doesn't have a person's life at risk.

And we all know anyways professional players earn way a lot more than doctors or lawyers.

@Monkey

True. But the player goes through physical pain everyday. The doctor saves a persons life in like maybe once-three times a month even less. The point is which one suffers more?

Player=Physical Doctor=?

I actually am not as bitter from the pro players just cause as I made myself out to be, but more bitter against them mainly because they're regarded as gods moreso than doctors and engineers that more the world forward. A lot of the atheletes' salaries are more than that of the President of the US's salary. Not to say that THIS president now should be payed more, but the position of US President in general (who runs the entire country…at least he should be) gets paid less than a Pro Athelete.

Another thing I'd like to point out is that I'm not saying that athletes don't work hard. My main point is that they're getting too much attention and accolades for the fact that they play a GAME as a career.

They are "gods" because they show them more on TV than doctors. Also they play a game that is more entertaining than a doctor. People who become doctors dont become doctors for the fame but to help others.

My philosophy on sports stars- if people are dumb enough to pay them for it, why not?
