Well here are my top favorite male and female singers, thought I would make a blog on them because I think a singer is what really holds a band together, so have fun.

Singer - Bands(s) - Song Name

Male:

Elvis Costello - The Attractions / Solo / a lot of other shit - Londons Brilliant Parade

Brilliant singer, he was practically the grandfather of punk rock, his singing is great and I love his music, awesome solo artist.

Genre: Punk

Alice Cooper - Solo - Clones (We're All)

Oh god, this guy rocks, my all-time favorite rock singer, he was the first musician I liked.

Genre: Rock

John Lennon - Beatles / Solo - Luck of the Irish

Lennon, awesome singing, awesome meaning, even though he was a little fucked up with Yoko and shit and leaving the Beatles, still love him.

Genre: Rock

Joe Strummer - The Clash - London Calling

THE most brilliant front-man/backup guitarist in punk rock, Strummer changed punk rock with his music, he just plain wanted to have fun and watch others have fun.

Genre: Punk

Johnny Rotten - Sex Pistols - Holiday in the Sun

How do you say "Sod off mate" without a rotten attitude? You cant, Rotten is one of a kind, and with his spine alignment it's fun to watch him dance and sing.

Genre: Punk

Keith Monkey - The Adicts - Viva La Revolution & Joker in the Pack

This guy is great, full joker paint, fun clothes, an all around fun guy, gotta love his singing.

Genre: Punk

Jonathan Coulton - Solo - Mandelbrot Set

This was a triumph… But anyway, theres more then just Still Alive, this guy defines geek rock, reminds me of Queen a lot.

Genre: Rock

Female:

Skye Edwards - Morcheeba / Solo - Rome wasn't built in a day

Beautiful singer, makes me cry (but I don't, mind you) I'm sad she left Morcheeba though, she was awesome.

Genre: Dance/Electronic

Siouxsie Sioux - Siouxsie and the Banshees / The Creatures - Israel

THE best woman Punk singer, she practically started the Goth/Post Punk movement, her music is so awesome and moving.

Genre: Punk

Poly Styrene - X-Ray Spex - Oh Bondage, Up Yours!

She sings like a fucking banshee, she's quite clearly insane, so you really cant go wrong, also kinda hot.

Genre: Punk

Annie Lennox - Eurythmics - Angel

Oh man, love this song, love this band, love it all.

Genre: Dance

Pauline Murray - Penetration - Don't Dictate

Well, not the best, but a pretty definitive punk band, has nice singing, cant go wrong, not much of an avid listener.

Genre: Punk

Have fun :D

Where's Britney Spears? And Justin Timberlake?

The lead singer of the Sex Pistols has one of the most mind-numbingly annoying voices I've ever heard produced by male vocal chords.

Ever hear Tool? Besides Rotten is more rotten then Punk itself.

I like how fsx keeps revising how he hates punk.

I've noticed the only good punk is punk that has another element combined, like reaggae or classic rock or art or pop or something. That's why I hate the Sex Pistols (Public Image Ltd. is good though, so I'm not just hating on Lydon/Rotten).

Sk8, do you listen to The Damned? If you don't, check out Damned Damned Damned. It's probably my favorite first wave punk album.

The damned, Punk's not dead? Wait no, that's the exploited… Hmm, I know I've heard the Damned. I'll check it out.

Their later stuff is pretty crappy though, so be careful.

I hate old punk, because everything's poor quality, and all the instruments blend together, and I'll be damned if I can make out what the singer is saying.

That's why I like old punk and horror punk. Unedited, not as clean and fake-sounding if you get what I mean.. Isn't punk meant to sound like that?
