108Badge: The Coolest Badge Around

Posted by takua108 on May 25, 2006, 10:39 p.m.

So with all these petitions for random badges, I thought, heck, I need a badge. So I came up with the idea for the 108Badge (while reading <a href="http://64digits.com/users/index.php?userid=Kenon&cmd=comments&id=3208" target=_blank>REZ's similar blog entry</a>).

What does the 108Badge do? Basically, I give it to you as a reward for using correct grammar and spelling the majority of the time. Why? Because content posted on blogs, forums, and anywhere else on the Internet that isn't an IM window or IRC chatroom should have thought put into it before you click "Submit." This isn't AIM, guys; your writing should be clear and readable. People will like you more for it. And, if I have anything to say about it, you'll get a 108Badge for it.

Now seeing as how I posted this right after a previous blog post, <a href="http://64digits.com/users/index.php?userid=takua108&cmd=comments&id=3210" target=_blank>don't forget to read it as well</a>. It'll give you cookies if you do.

And before you ask, they're Oreos. Uh-Oh Oreos.

EDIT.1: Here's version one of my potential 108Badge: <img src="http://64digits.com/users/takua108/108Badge_01.png">

EDIT.2: Crap, I gotta change that…you can't see it! [>>]

<b>EDIT.3</b>: Ah HA! Potential 108Badge version 02: <img src="http://64digits.com/users/takua108/108Badge_02.png">

Well why not call it the RhysBadge then? If its his badge he can call it what he wants.

Not saying that it;s gonna happen… read the latest update to the news.
What does that have to do with grammar?

Rhys: Pff…whaddya mean "108Badge" has no significance? If I could get Chiken to at least partially improve his grammar, I'm pretty sure I could get a badge named after me [:P]

I am actually for this badge, Because I how HAVE to type with good grammar, or the 108 police will chase me… Again…

(Make teh badge!)

I automatically win, because I am an obsessive pedant, and constantly correct other people's spelling, grammer, and word usage.

What exactly is that surposed to mean? That is worse than my English teacher, Mr. Gomez.

Muahaha! It works! I'm rather well known at the HB for laying pedant traps; deliberate misspelling to catch pedants. (no kidding, either)

It obviously works here too! Give Kenon a badge!

Pedant Trap

rainbow, friendlyfire, and The Acrimonious Obfuscator sat around the table. They were playing a game. Pedant Trap, to be exact. A parody of "Mouse Trap".

The Acrimonious Obfuscator smiled gleefully, as he tossed the die from hand to hand. He chuckled at rainbow, who was at the very end, hoping, just hoping. He tossed the die, and picked up a Correction card. On it were four obscure words, one of which was spelled incorrectly, or had bad grammar. Being the ultimate pedant, he instantly shouted out the incorrect word, as well as the corrected spelling. Then he passed the die. friendlyfire rolled, and was very pleased to be able to slot the last piece of the Pedant Trap into place. rainbow shuddered, know that his playing piece was trapped in the final roulette, just waiting for the trap to be triggered….

"Mouse Trap" with pedantry-styling. Cheese cards changed to "Spelling Correction Cards"; to get them, you must correct the misspelled word. Playing pieces are shaped like a dictionary, and every line in the instruction book is double checked for errors. The dice is, during game, referred to as the die, with penalies if it is not…

The three above players were chosen due due their pedantry - they all corrected a few deliberate misspellings in a few of my ideas :) See my profile…

God, I'm gone for like 5 days and I've completely lost track of badges. Tell me everyone who has a special badge named after them now.

…Nobody? Chiken, I guess…but we don't know why.
