Havent blogged in a WHILE!!!
Ok, so i've started working on Roy again and progress is slow but steady. The village is now complete, along with NPCs and all that. I've also made a cutscene to intro the next level…and I've polished the code. The title screen is very simple now but stylistic. Now I'm working on an underground level, which takes place just below the village. Here's a screenshot of what the underground looks like:You start the game without your sword, in classic platformer/adventure fashion, and you have to find it and stuff.I should be able to put together a short demo before tuesday night.I'm also trying to come up with a good story, but i can't elaborate. Here's what I have so far:Someone important to roy (Gf, wife fiancee??) dies and so he goes to the deity of life to ask for her soul back. The deity of life agrees, but at a price. What he has to do is to rid the world of the Qui'ifon. He has to do this because it is about equal a feat to bringing back someone to life. Roy agrees and the next day he sets on his journey. Also I changed the name of the game to The Undertaking because…well…its about an undertaking.
that looks real good, I want to make a good platformer, but the graphics never look good, are u using tiles for the background?
Nope, no tiles…
men that would be murder…to make all tiles move with the view(s)so its a background that stays the same in the view?
Its good to know there's still some talent on 64D.
Yeah, the background moves with the view (actually, it moves BEFORE the view moves so that you don't even notice that the background is actually moving).
So if I have a 2000*2000 room, i dont need to make a 2000*2000 background. I just make it as big as the view then make it move with the view@ ReZ: Yeah i noticed the crap storm lately. Didn't mods raise standards a while back?k, you could just draw a sprite from view_xview+0 and view_yview+0 I have that in one of my games
awesome screenies, because those are amazing flawless grafics.
Heh, that looks great.
@8p00:I have no clue about the standards, it seems like they were lowered…
Looks good so far.
Though, the rocks really pale in comparison to the pillars. Reminds me that I need a new view engine instead of the crappy regular one for my game.
