1. Are YOU getting married?

2. How/why are you getting paid for college?

3. What college?

Acid 13 years, 4 months ago

1. Yes.

2. Scholarships/FASFA/Possible Disability Benefits/CO-OPs - even if I don't get the disability stuff, the CO-OP's will more than reimburse me. Either way, I come out with more than I put in.

3. University of Toledo.

Cool, I had a similar situation, how much money per semester did you have to pay in total?

Also BEWARE DIFFERENTIAL EQUATIONS. That class WILL. EAT. YOU. ALIVE if you do not expect it to.

500gb? I hope you've got an external / desktop. That graphics card should be somewhat decent as well. Good for a laptop I suppose. Just don't the same performance you'd get on a good desktop.

I think it's good. 500 Gb is enough, unless you're planning to download lots of pirate games and porn.

Differential equations is one of the easiest maths I've studied.

I'm not going to take any classes lightly :P

This setup us better than my at home pc, but I know that for today's standards it's not "top of the line".

Juju, you're a mathbeast in most areas. I think it will be a challenge but I'm not worried.

But harddrives aren't that expensive. I bet you could get a 1tb drive for under $100 easily (laptop). I picked up this 2tb HDD for $69cdn (so you could probably do it for like $60 in the US), but it was a desktop drive.

I'm not saying that you should get a giant laptop drive, but investing in an external could prove useful.

Oh, and 2ghz quad? For a laptop I'd prefer a 3ghz dual (when my friend was picking out a laptop a 3ghz dual was waaaay cheaper option (I think changing to a 2ghz quad added like $600? it was retarded) than the 2ghz quad, but maybe prices have changed)… would probably be cheaper too. Then again, I have a quad on my desktop, but the difference between the dual core i5s and quad core i5s was negligible (2.67ghz vs 3.1ghz IIRC), especially since I can just OC it to 4ghz anyways. I actually might be able to do more, but I didn't feel like trying.

Although this dual vs quad vs hexacore etc entirely depends on what kind of software you're running!

Hah! Guys, I have external drives. I just wanted to check the hardware specs. And since most people either said it was good or failed to flag any flaws, I KNOW it's going to fit my needs. :D

What kind of drive was it? WD black? Blue? Hitachi? Seagate? Samsung? 7200rpm, right?

Acid 13 years, 4 months ago

It's a WD black 500 gig. I don't really need more than 1T of space, and if I do, I'll just get another external that's 1T or something. Those are relatively cheap now.
