holy crap making blog.. erghhh…………..
So I want to start a new online multiplayer game, but id like to hear feedback on what would be fun to play. Here is what I had in mind for a while now:Space arcade shooter with customizable ships. (Like battleships forever, only online matches, stats, and not "vector" style graphics.) Also, I was thinking Targetra as the name?Anyway a few ideas for the game off of this idea:->ships range from slow, powerful, slow reloading -to- quick, fast-shooting, minor damage->different modes such as a base type mode where you defend/attack, normal deathmatch, etc->ability to deploy temporary turrets and set traps->many effects and explosions, and modern-but-classic looking HUD/interface-> stats on its own game web pageI also am looking to make this a multi-person project. Reason being is that it takes way too much time for just me to work on it, and also as demonstrated by other developers here :>(which is also why im asking for input so the most people would find the game enjoyable)So please Give Suggestions on what would be a fun multiplayer game. Also you can tell me if you are interested in helping out :3Web is already covered, but banner/promotional would be acceptable. This is a 'getting started' blog, so im not going to get into specifics until the ideas are established.Thanks!!!!!1
yes its in GM since welll, i know GM and so do others here so.
also, the controlls use the arrows/WASD plus the mouse. maybe picture starfox command, but 2D (because 3d would take more time to do) and more ships, weapons, effects, stats, etc.yes, its a space shooter, probably shouldve mentioned that. but yeah if youve played battleships forever it is space, but the ships are slow and more based on power than meneuverability.EDIT: oh i did say space arcade shooter… but yeah a shumup would be interesting as an online match haha, but no it wont be shumup.MMO shumup for TOTAL CHAOS!
Also since nobody offered yet, I could be interested in helping :)That could work as multiplayer. But be sure you have enough perks that the gameplay doesn't get tedious and boring.
Also.Battleships Forever? Sounds a lot like Captain Forever. I don't think this is a coincidence, as both are based on modular spaceship combat. However, Captain Forever is single player only.

That's what first popped into my head.ENGRHHHHHHH
make it a shooter of sorts, but more in depth: such as a garage for up to 5 or so ships, history, stats, reputation online, and a reward system to buy parts or scrap a ship for parts to sell to others. others can ask to buy your ships or parts and you try to make money and make better ships.
