As I am working on some new software for multiple platforms, and I want to give you guys the first sneak peaks, I am curious what phones 64digitian's have?
Here is the poll for you:http://strawpoll.me/2869386Vote so that I know what platform to give out the beta to first!I actually just upgraded to the Galaxy S5 this week, and I have to say… This is the phone that I was looking forward to in Androids. Its speedy, simplistic, and keeps its charge for quite a while. That being said, when switching over phones, I chose to keep only the essential things I need to have on the phone. Since I got my iPad, I can keep those monitoring apps and other more resource-heavy and more work-related apps on that while keeping my phone clean. Works nicely, and everything is finally kept in sync pretty well. I also keep my music on on my iPad, so im not using the microSD, which I think caused some issues on my S3 when it would scan the card and cause a lot of hiccups…Now I'm just hoping that this S5 will last more than 2 years to get my money's worth on it…Anyhow, be sure to vote in the poll to help me get an idea of what platform is in majority here guys!
I've got a Nexus 4 right now, though the battery is going in it. I want to replace it with an Xperia Z3 Compact when that comes out.
I've got a Samsung Galaxy Note 3 which I acquired in April. It's my first smartphone; I chose it mainly because of its size and my plan to make Android games.
My phone has Android 4.4.4 on it, but it's actually a really, really old phone. It's a Galaxy S2.
They're on 5 for goodness sake! Hopefully sometime soon I'm going to upgrade to a OnePlus One.That phone is sexy. The iPhone 3G (Not S lol) and my experience with it has NOTHING to do with modern smartphone interactions - it's like comparing modern consoles to ones three generations back.
I loved my next phone, a Windows Phone (Samsung Focus), as a phone - it was honestly the best overall smartphone experience I've ever had. But, ultimately, there were some awesome features that I wanted out of Android and I've been really happy with my LG Optimus G until Finn dropped it and put the face buttons out of commission (I just added softkeys and it's fine lol) but the worst part about smart phones are the batteries. I can't wait until I get a phone that can last for days IN USE and will maintain the battery life after more than a few hundred power cycles.Phones have come a ways, and I get experience using all kinds of new stuff at Best Buy, but I'm at the point where I don't give a shit about a faster processor or more RAM in my pocket device. I would much rather have features that matter more during daily life like better low light cameras or clearer audio transmission or better voice recognition OR more efficient power usage so that when they increase the battery capacity, it actually does something for the battery life.I found out yesterday they were only doing pre-orders for an hour. AN HOUR.
FUUuuuu…Galaxy S4 Mini here, actually fits in a pocket…
I guess the problem is resolution and processing power is capable of advance while it seams we've had the same batteries around since the egyptians started doing it…@eagly: I upgraded from that phone and had the same problems. What I started to do was: 1) Not use a microSD at all. 2) uninstall anything pebble related and 3) turn off applications that I dont use (mostly the stock ones). But the S5 is very fluid and responsive. Honestly, I like it for the fingerprint reader, better interfaces, and the better battery life. The extra processing speed helps as well. But again, I'm hoping the phone will last for quite a while. I'm making sure to only install things I need this time, because its more of a mess with android than iDevices to be honest.
As with Acid, battery life is probably the thing I will look for first and foremost when I upgrade. Maybe the S5 is the way to go. How long do you get out of a full charge with regular use?
@eagly: The entire day. I play a couple games, listen to streaming music, check facebook, text, etc, and I still have charge by the end of the day.
(BUT, I chose not to use an SD card, disabled some apps that come with the phone, and kept my apps to the main stuff, like facebook twitter snapchat google+ soundcloud shazam wunderlist etc)Be wary though, the phone is about $600, so I have T-mobile which makes you pay for the phone over time, which is more cost effective if it lasts (I think it will, but you never know)… much like buying a new car rather than leasing one.
