What phone do you have?

As I am working on some new software for multiple platforms, and I want to give you guys the first sneak peaks, I am curious what phones 64digitian's have?

Here is the poll for you:

http://strawpoll.me/2869386

Vote so that I know what platform to give out the beta to first!

I actually just upgraded to the Galaxy S5 this week, and I have to say… This is the phone that I was looking forward to in Androids. Its speedy, simplistic, and keeps its charge for quite a while.

That being said, when switching over phones, I chose to keep only the essential things I need to have on the phone. Since I got my iPad, I can keep those monitoring apps and other more resource-heavy and more work-related apps on that while keeping my phone clean. Works nicely, and everything is finally kept in sync pretty well. I also keep my music on on my iPad, so im not using the microSD, which I think caused some issues on my S3 when it would scan the card and cause a lot of hiccups…

Now I'm just hoping that this S5 will last more than 2 years to get my money's worth on it…

Anyhow, be sure to vote in the poll to help me get an idea of what platform is in majority here guys!

I'm glad you're happy Alert, but I'm still not satisfied. When I can be sure that I won't need to carry a charger with me 24/7 a year after I buy my phone I'll be happy. But it's getting to the point where no matter what phone you get, after about a year or so, the batteries cannot keep up with the QUAD CORE 2GHZ processing power that's constantly running and burning through cycle.

I'd be ecstatic if Google or Samsung released a thicker phone that housed a larger battery and had a slower, but more power efficient processor with just a basic gpu - something that could last me 3 days no problem. It's super annoying to feel tethered to an outlet or looking out for one throughout the day JUST IN CASE I decided to watch five too many Key and Peele videos.

Im Def with you on that, Acid. There are a lot of people that would prefer a longer lasting battery. My mother for instance boasts about how she doesn't need to charge her phone for an entire week. BUT she also did not use data or wifi, so everything was turned off and it lasted forever.

Personally, I think there is a lot of development going on right now in mobile, so the capabilities are sorta the priority right now it seems. I think microsoft was going for the simplistic approach, but im not sure. Perhaps over time people will tend to like certain styles and find the balance between simplicity and ease of use, and phones can be made more efficient to work in a particular way that conserves battery.

Yeah, my Windows Phone was great for lasting with long battery life - but that was 3G, instead of 4G and with no bluetooth. I have these cheap $20 bluetooth headphones that make my life so much easier - I can go from my laptop, to my desktop, to my phone, to my tablet without having to disconnect anything or worry about wires catching. Super nice.

I think that we've come quite a ways in capabilities but everyone is pushing to have the best of EVERY FEATURE in every new phone OR are releasing budget phones that have the cheapest possible everything. Also, having a thin phone sucks because, without my case on, it slips in between the cracks of the seats in my car and in the couch and all kinds of junk, man. :(

I'm super happy about the innovations and advancements we're making, but I think that we should start making practical revisions as well - it's not just batteries.

I believe that Apple wanted to make their devices super simple to use and not get carried away, but then Samsung came along and made things look shinier and more convenient, but more power hungry. Microsoft turned out to not be as popular with their simplicity..

I dont think bluetooth uses much battery really btw. I found some apps that were not efficient using it that caused battery drain. WiFi can also cause it, especially if you have it always scanning for networks, but you can turn it off easily.

Personally, I like the routine of charging my phone once every night, and having the convenience of not having to put much effort in and worrying about it.

I think that Samsung expects people to put a case on their phones. My S5 has the camera and sound slightly bulging out, which I believe allows the rest of the phone to be thin for a case of your choice to be put on it. I'm going for an average size case, but my roommate got a heavy duty one.

That's another thing - I'm getting a $600 device EXPECTED to spend $50 for a premium case to protect it? Really?

It gives you choice though. Its the same thing as stupid people buying a $100 HDMI cable at best buy when they have a $10 option, cause they think its better or dont have a choice at the store.

But just do what I do and go on amazon and spend $5 for an hdmi and $15 on a nice phone case ;)

^^You're welcome.

Mine also came with an LED keyring flashlight that's pretty cool by itself haha

Interestingly, I researched the HDMI cables and it turns out that the twisted veins hdmi's are some of the cheapest but also can be unreliable. People buy a pack of 3 just to make sure that at least one of them works. So instead I bought an $9 cable that seemed a bit better:

Also I took this screenshot of the phone battery for you eagly:

Still had 25% after 15hours, with some games, listening to music, using snapchat and facebook, etc. Pretty impressive

All of mine worked perfectly, and the other reviews also tell a different story, but I'm glad you're happy! :D

As for phones, I'll be in the market for a new one once I start working again… but I'm really not sure if I care enough to try to get one of the latest ones or if I just want to get a used one in good condition.

I've been using a Moto G since June of this year. It's a damn good phone, specially for the price.

Before that I had a Nexus 4, until I was robbed in April this year. It was a great phone.

Before that I had a Galaxy S3, until I was robbed in September '13. I was glad I got rid of it.
