This blog is for posting small bits and pieces of progress you've made; anything that you feel doesn't warrant an entirely new blog.

And try to comment on other people's work a bit too! Feedback is going to be very useful during the course of this competition!

Finished the boss battle music today:

And a bit of background work:

And now for the bad news… I'm as sick as a dog, and still have to work. I'm not sure whether I can get the last few things wrapped up in time for the end of the comp.

I've kept exactly what my mechanic is under wraps. I came up with a slightly interesting gimmick involving my three themes: Machines, Brokenness and Possession.

The idea I came up with was to create a Megaman style game, where the player controls a digital 'ghost'. In this form, you shoot enemies with energy shots to 'overload' them. In that state, you collide with them and take control.

I have six enemies planned for this one area (The reactor core), and that massive boss.

All told, I still have a tonne of work to process.

I haven't even made the player's firing animations, projectiles, healthbar or any such thing yet.

Enemies aren't even outlined (Only sketched).

The possession mechanic… I've only thought through. Haven't got any framework for it yet.

Anyway, excuses completely aside… I'm going to work on this as best I can, but I'm not killing myself over things. I'm feeling like complete shit at the moment.

Quote: Mataguiris
The soundtrack of my game, has composed a guitarist friend, especially for the game, but he is not into this world, the song has made me as a friend.

Is it necessary to register in the contest? He has just composed the song for my game, will not vote and do not like video games.

So the game's creator is me, and the soundtrack composed by him, but does not participate in the process of creating the game. Obviously it is named in the credits of the game as a composer.

I need to know if the musician is registered, or not required.

Thanks, and sorry my bad English.
I would say that your friend doesn't need to register for the competition. You can have outside help without necessarily being a team member, so as long as he made the music for your game and you have his permission to use it, everything will be fine.

Courtesy of Google Translate:

Yo diría que tu amigo no tiene que inscribirse en el concurso. Usted puede tener ayuda externa sin ser necesariamente un miembro del equipo, por lo que el tiempo que hizo la música para su juego y usted tiene su permiso para usarlo todo estará bien.

Looking smega smexy Mega.

I am excite.

I'll post screens tonight when I update my containers. I'm making an open dungeon horror roguelite - basically, really large, open rooms instead of tons of tiny rooms and an emphasis on surviving rather than worrying about equipment or inventory… you can only hold two items any time.

Suddenly I realize Mega is named Mega and everything just fits together.

Makin' Mega Man style platformers since 2007. :P

On another note, I'm completely screwed over for time, even with the extension. I'm trying to put a few hours in on a side-bet while at work… but no promises on a finished game.

List of stuff I still need to do:

> AI.

> Enemy interaction (Attacking, damage, etc)

> Possession system (Still a ghostly idea in the back of my mind somewhere)

> Actually make the boss work.

> A few more screens worth of level, at least.

Well, I somehow found the motivation to do a crap-ton of work tonight.

Very nice, I suddenly flashbacked to Metal Arms: Glitch in the System when you possessed a robot.
