While in the making fun of my dear friend John Doyle, for a1 pawn push to a2, for being a horrible move, as an opening on white, i got a huge slap in the face. Apperantly Adolf Anderssen as an early tempo move! Ofcourse it lacks ability, it is not the worst opening, I mean, it is possible to lose in two moves, if you cooperate.. Barnes Opening is more destructive to you than this! Why? It is f2 push to f3.. You get an attack on the center board, but, if you look, a bishop can punch your king in the face, forcing you to hurl a pawn infront of it, also able to conspire with the 2nd move loss.
Where am i going with this? Being an obsessive chess player, i am wondering if anyone knows of a chess program that would allow me to make this opening, and then switch sides, to see how that computer would devalop this anderssen opening, possibly to be used to throw off the elite programs. Anyways, i will continue to look into this, and if i find an answer on my own, i will edit this blog, incase someone shares this interest. The chess computer i faced looks only 7 moves ahead, as opposed to my friends, whos looks 14 moves ahead. The thing that upsets me is that i definatly could have drawn that game!!
Anderssens opening is not the worst opening, it has its loyal followers. They usually play c4 after e5 where the a pawn up one is useful. http://www.enpassant.dk/chess/softeng.htm < here are some free chess programs.
Anyway, I personally like e3 if you want to be uncommon. Also, computers wouldn't know what to do with the move. They'd probably play as if they were a tempo down
yeah i want to devalop this opening, it looks fun, although not the best, it definatly is not the worst!
oh and thanks for the link!
There isn't much interesting variations in the andersson, e3 has some nice variations. Against d5 there is c4 and against e5 there is d4 or c4. Would you want to play a game online?
Sure, im all for an online game of chess, i'll get in contact with you once im home, the bell rang, so im on my way, talk to you later.
You have friends that look 14 moves ahead? That can't be, most grandmasters only look one or two, they may look a few more moves ahead if they will be doing something risky, but chess is very much recongnizing patterns.
no its a computer, if i had friends that looked that far ahead, i'd be better off playing computers lol
ps, my AIM is WHIPstickAGO, if your interested in a game or twoahh ok, I don't think the Anderrson opening is good for throwing off computers, what is good for that is not castling, and the stonewall attack
i just looked at my blog, and i see where i messed up, i typed 'my friends, who look 14–' where i ment my friends program, gosh my grammer went down hill, lol.
Anyways the anderrson is pretty different, i was looking at some weird openings, just because i thought they would be fun. I always take the weird path in games lol.
