Yesterday, a very terrible tragedy befell me. My basement has a concrete floor, right? I had set my laptop down inside the bag with the zipper undone. Pro came by to pick it up, didn't notice, and…
BANGNo visible cracks, oh no. But the thing won't even start up again. It'll get to loading Windows, flash blue, and restart, attempting to fix some hardware error.I contacted the manufacturer for support. (Dell, btw)Lemme clear this up. I know many people hate Dell, but don't post any crap about how much it sucks right now. It was a good model (Inspiron 1521), brand new when I got it, and completely secret before release with the exception of some hardware companies, such as my uncle's, from whom I learned of this. It's a very nice laptop with no issues and…VISTA!So I made an awezom choice by doing what I did and I'm not ashamed of it.By the way, STFU Flashback. >:(And I could've waited until Black Friday to get a much cheaper compputer, but Acers were common, and for the record…Acer isn't quite top-notch, but it's cheap.GUESS WHAT THIS MEANS?All of my games are hereby postponed for at least a week. I paid $120 for the accidental damage warranty and contacted support. It'll take about 7 business days for them to get it back, and add the time it takes for them to ship me the box that I have to send it in…Hopefully I will lose nothing. If I do, then I will have a terrible breakdown and not get into GM for a while. On better news, you might have noticed somebody on MSN going around under peoples' identities (minus the email). Pacman, that was me, not Josh@Dreamland. <_<And it's a script…That being said,Peace out,~Kilin
Ouch, that sucks. Man, if my laptop was stepped on (or some other terminating event), I think I might cry :D . Hope you don't lose anything important (like your GM files ;) ).
My mom's computer has that same problem. =O
Two of my friends sugessted that the disk in the HDD was out of place. If you can fix that, you get a second laptop. =PSue the guy who stepped on it; you're an American, and it's the American thing to do (according to TV in mah country)
On a more helpful note, try see if you can run safe mode, and if not, try the recovery option at startup (assuming your computer doesn't completely fail).
@wazu: I tried safe mode. Won't start up.
@Noodle: I prefer HP myself, but Dell had nice prices then. And I already told you, don't try to influence my decision.@Purianite: Oh, I can fix it, but it'll void the warranty, so I have to let them take care of it.@Vista-haters: You just live as you always have. Actually live with Vista for more than two minutes and try everything out. It's a knockoff of Apple, but Apple's stealing things from Windows, too. Vista's pretty nice and for the record…THAT IS NOT THE REASON THE COMPUTER'S BROKEN!Get it into your thick skulls that there is more than just Windows XP or whatever. Diversity is bliss, and someday you may learn that. Live in the darkness as you please, but your opinion is not valid until you learn to try things out for once.Yes, love Vista as they steal away universal OpenGL and get manufacterures to make the use of Linux disabling. Let's all be happy, and ignore all their silly ways
Oooooooh, man I feel sorry for ya.
I hope you get your files back.I dropped my Wii once, but thankfully it has an extremely hard casing.Yes, my Wii took a topple once. Thanks to Nintendo it's not broken. =)
Words of advice on that Tnet page you have is to stay consistent with colors
That Tnet page isn't my page, serprex. Being a sneaky little devil, are we? [;)]
Sorry, but you have to wait like everyone else. XD
