There have been a few blogs lately with this sort of thing as their topic. While not all games can be compared to each other–some have better graphics, some have a better story, some have stunning soundtracks–many of those games that were left somewhere in the middle can find their way to the top of the list next time.
And after all this E3 shit, what better to bring up than something a little unrelated? Instead of talking about the quality of the games released today, let's talk about Game Maker. As a recap for those who don't know what replay value is, it's exactly what it sounds like. A game with a high replay value is one that players are more likely to come back to, whether they want to sit through the whole story again, the gameplay is just too awesome to leave it sitting on your computer, or it's just a nice casual game like Bejeweled that you can play when you're bored.I'll start it off:VariaI liked this game long before I liked shoot-em-ups. And even though I sucked back then, it was always fun to be able to pick up the game later and try again. Shoot-em-ups tend to be quite replayable, as it's usually a matter of how far you can get, kind of like climbing a mountain. Even though the game is short and beatable within twenty minutes or so, you always feel like you're making progress when you memorize bullet patterns and learn new tactics. So let's hear your ideas. What Game Maker games have you been able to go back to time and time again?
I played Super Crate Box for 2 hours in one sitting.
meh i dont think any GM game ive played has any replay value… only a few have i spent more than 10 mins on [because most are either so bad or completed in that time]
I think I play Adrenaline the most, and I don't even play the game that much, I play it once or twice every couple of months.
ColumnsX. Been playing the occasional round (or six) since 2007.
Spelunky is damn replayable too, as everyone else has said.@death: You need to stop getting everything from Yoyo.I'm gonna throw Iji in here, because despite that I've never actually played it (I don't like platform+combat games that much), there's just so many easter eggs and little details that you could play the campaign five times and not notice them all (the game changes to how you play).
^Oh yes, definitely. I'm on my fifth playthrough at the moment. (not counting single sector plays)
ColumnsX, Sapphire Tears, septena, and Clean Asia
Hero Core and, of course, Spelunky.
Some more:
Jumper 2, with which I messed around with the level editor for months on end.Linepatterns, a little known puzzle game that I've played more than twice. This is a game with a stupid graphical gimmic: I can't tell you how many times I've played this. It's really short, but I've played it through to completion at least thrice.@ f1ak3r: where else am i supposed to get em? =P
theres a very slow stream of games uploaded here lol. besides i barely have times to play any games at all anymore, let alone GM games.
