Some of you may hate me for saying this, but I had so much fun when we were all actively playing on the Minecraft server with at least ten people on at all times. In fact, I went back a few months ago and there was nobody on. I felt like I was looking back at my childhood; that was the nostalgia I was getting.
And recently I've been addicted to Terraria, but playing solo is just not as much fun. There are lots of multiplayer games out there, especially on Steam. If we can find something cheap to play, or even have a Minecraft/Terraria/TF2/LoL night, I think that'd be fun. I miss playing with some of you guys, and for a little reverse psychology, all we do is sit here and scratch our asses anyway, right? Why not scratch our asses on a video game?Content? Okay. Lixim is once again facing potential problems, but I've been doing a lot of conceptualizing. Here's one question I'd like to throw at you all, though, and I'll bold it for good measure. What do you think are the advantages and disadvantages of mixing an action platformer with a life simulation?I'm pretty good at making genre hybrids and having them work, but this is a complicated game, and thus needs some more input before I jump in.Mostly (yes, a lot of this has come from Terraria), the action platformer bit is optional, and refers to bosses that you have to defeat in order to unlock areas. Additionally, the player can change the difficulty once per game day, which affects the death penalty, mostly. Unlike some games though, not just the difficulty is adjusted. The player gains many perks for living on the edge, too, like access to new machines, increased capability, etc.The life sim isn't in regards to the player. This isn't a survival game, though I do want it to be dark with an imminent death looming overhead on the hardest difficulty. The life simulation is the ability to raise Lixies, the endangered race of the world, protecting them and using them as allies. They'll fight for you, for the most part, but require your help to survive, for the most part.If any of you are familiar with the Creatures franchise, particularly the original trilogy, you'll know what I'm talking about.Let me know what you think, please. I would really appreciate the input. As for my V4D prize of a random Steam game, I do remember. Send me your Steam ID or Steam-associated e-mail (or just add kilin08 as a friend), and I'll get to you as soon as I see a good game. Also, Creatures 4 is coming out soon!
Capture the Flag in anything.
TF2/Soldat/Terraria/Realm of the Mad God
A voice comm. server would be nice (mumble/TS/Ventrilo/whatvs)We should work in teams for the survival marathon, with each team having a base, and the team that defeats the enderdragon gets a reward like a badge or something.
It's things like this that make me want to keep developing multiplayer in GM, but that would take time and I want to play now.
For multiplayer games… I have… LoL is always good, I've got Terraria, Minecraft, a good number of the free games on steam (although my computer can't run TF2), I also have L4D and L4D2, but my computer can't run those either. In a few months I'll be getting a better computer, but for now…
I'd be more inclined to play Terraria if they didn't just announce that it won't be updated anymore (though for $6, it's got an extremely good value of content).
Here's an idea, upgrade the server to the latest snapshot, so we can have zombie invasions inside villiages, and make it so everyone spawns inside the villiage and make it infinite night. Make it so the players can never escape from the villiage too, somehow.
ALSO ALSO ALSO, allow ghasts and stuff to spawn if that's possible. So the villiage gets destroyed over time.Actually, I don't think that would be fun for more than an hour, so nvm. :(
