Let's Play More Games

Some of you may hate me for saying this, but I had so much fun when we were all actively playing on the Minecraft server with at least ten people on at all times. In fact, I went back a few months ago and there was nobody on. I felt like I was looking back at my childhood; that was the nostalgia I was getting.

And recently I've been addicted to Terraria, but playing solo is just not as much fun.

There are lots of multiplayer games out there, especially on Steam. If we can find something cheap to play, or even have a Minecraft/Terraria/TF2/LoL night, I think that'd be fun. I miss playing with some of you guys, and for a little reverse psychology, all we do is sit here and scratch our asses anyway, right? Why not scratch our asses on a video game?

Content? Okay. Lixim is once again facing potential problems, but I've been doing a lot of conceptualizing. Here's one question I'd like to throw at you all, though, and I'll bold it for good measure.

What do you think are the advantages and disadvantages of mixing an action platformer with a life simulation?

I'm pretty good at making genre hybrids and having them work, but this is a complicated game, and thus needs some more input before I jump in.

Mostly (yes, a lot of this has come from Terraria), the action platformer bit is optional, and refers to bosses that you have to defeat in order to unlock areas. Additionally, the player can change the difficulty once per game day, which affects the death penalty, mostly. Unlike some games though, not just the difficulty is adjusted. The player gains many perks for living on the edge, too, like access to new machines, increased capability, etc.

The life sim isn't in regards to the player. This isn't a survival game, though I do want it to be dark with an imminent death looming overhead on the hardest difficulty. The life simulation is the ability to raise Lixies, the endangered race of the world, protecting them and using them as allies. They'll fight for you, for the most part, but require your help to survive, for the most part.

If any of you are familiar with the Creatures franchise, particularly the original trilogy, you'll know what I'm talking about.

Let me know what you think, please. I would really appreciate the input.

As for my V4D prize of a random Steam game, I do remember. Send me your Steam ID or Steam-associated e-mail (or just add kilin08 as a friend), and I'll get to you as soon as I see a good game.

Also, Creatures 4 is coming out soon!

Ace of Spades got boring very quickly for me.

I just wish you could unlock more weapons.

3 just isn't enough for me, and SMG's are just completely useless 95% of the time.

Even the shotgun feels much more useful at mid-range than the SMG.

But I still would play it again, if there was some kind of community event for it

Wish I could actually host an event, but someone else would probably be better, especially since my internet connection is a little sporadic. I wouldn't mind trying Terraria and Minecraft, so long as we could get some bigger groups on. Team Fortress is always fun. Basically any game that's free or cheap or that people already own.

However, I have to say that Ace of Spades doesn't look all that fun to me. I guess TF2 is the only shooter I like these days. And even so, haven't played that for at least a year.

Ace of Spades is pretty much a mix between Minecraft and TF2, capturing each other's base and killing each other while building square bases and frontlines and digging square shafts to sneak into enemy territory.

I really like SMG's they are very good if you get outnumbered, because you can mow down an entire squad quite quickly. Tip: you get much less recoil if you aim from the hip

Yeah I prefer SMGs too because I usually miss and the recoil makes me hit them (I suck at shooters) and I can break blocks with them from a distance.

Ace of Spades is incredibly fun and addicting for like 2 or 3 hours.

But, then I started getting bored and I installed a few mods for it.

I could tell that the game would last me much longer if someone from 64D would start a server for us all to play on.

And trust me, youtube videos don't do the game justice, I remember seeing a few YT vids for it a while back, and I thought it looked shit.

@Moikle, I'm actually damn good at the game, I was in first place in the first match I ever played, I had around 30 kills or so.

I've also gotten airstrikes several times before, without even realizing it.

I also knew that firing from the hip is better most of the time, but the shotgun one hit kills within the SMG's range and the rifle would destroy anyone using the SMG easily.

Hmm. Ace of Spades. I've never heard of this before.

I almost got 3 airstrikes in a life before [/bragging]

What? Are 64d playing a game together?

I cba reading the blog or any of the comments.
