64Completition Progress Check 10

Posted by Castypher on Aug. 16, 2013, 12:38 p.m.

You have about two weeks left. How are things coming? I haven't heard from most people about this, but here's what I AM aware of:

- For the most part, hel is finished and is making several small updates over this month.

- Purianite is doing a bit of work here and there, but hasn't reported in yet.

- Polystyrene Man is mostly finished and is making some quality of life edits.

- Daggerhog is mostly finished and is refining his sprites.

- Cesque is plodding away happily bringing his game together.

I haven't heard anything in terms of progress from the rest of you, even in the last progress check blog. Seems people are losing steam, which is exactly why I didn't want this to go on for so long. That or my dropping out was a worse influence than I thought, in which case I'm proud of those of you who kept working. My dropping out had nothing to do with the Completition itself so much as me realizing I wanted to do a lot more with it, and it wouldn't be appropriate to call it finished this early.

It's just two more weeks, guys, and the majority of what I've seen can easily be finished before the deadline with a little pushing on your end. This event has been largely successful, so see if you can't make it to the finish line.

News concerning S4D and the 64DCG will come in a following blog. In other news, I'm attending a writing conference next month. I have to beast edit my first ten pages and prepare a pitch for the publishers who'll be there. I cannot contain my excitement.

Just have to finish the rest of the levels (30 ish to go), make a proper ending, and this thing is pretty much ready to ship.

T.T Pc just got back from getting repaired.

What I still need to do:

Add music

Check sounds - possibly add more

Fix one or two bugs

Fix story

Make bundle things - cover,trailer

General tweaking

Seems, like a lot but I'm sure I can do it.

Game's just about complete. All it's missing is some music that I'll have to sucker some poor sap into doing for me.

Also I gave up on trying to refine the sprites with lighting stuffs, so they'll remain the way they are.

I already made a blog about my progress, but have an oekaki loading image:

Obligatory question to everyone: What's the best free software for recording and editing game footage for purposes of a trailer?

Cosine 11 years, 3 months ago

Open Broadcaster Software (recording). Not super intuitive, but by far the least resource intensive I've ever used. As for editing, I already own Sony Vegas, but I've heard good things about Lightworks.

I second Open Broadcaster Software. Ironically, I upgraded to Windows 7 in order to be able to use it so I could record nice clips from Hunter, and it's that same upgrade that destroyed Hunter completely.

Also, I still feel bad for that. :(

Well, except for one or two bugs I may not know of, the game just needs music and it'll be complete. Then I might add something to it seeing there's about a week left.

Also, I have know idea where to get/how to make music with out using inudge, which I'd prefer not to use.

oh right i started to comment on this the other day and then got distracted whoops

things since last time:

- worked on the 12h game thingy to get more familiar with GMS

- drew a couple splash screens for Walk - here's one:

(did some sprites too but haven't finished animating yet aah)

- got Walk working in GMS / fixed a bunch of graphical bugs / added running and movement speed changes

- did GMS tutorial on surfaces (pretty nice tutorial actually like dang)

i don't know if i'll be able to finish by the 1st (and whatever i do finish will be less than half the game at most because story), but i shall try valiantly regardless
