Seems we have a good enough number of people interested to get this show on the road. Those of you who remember last year's Completition might remember how things played out. You enter an unfinished game (or start one from scratch) and keep everyone else up to date with progress blogs (which I deem mandatory but there's no real punishment aside from not getting to show off). This year will be no different except in lenience. Further details below.
Progress Checks
Progress checks will happen every two weeks. Participants must post a progress blog AND/OR a screenshot before or during this progress check, which will last the entirety of the weekend it falls on. I will make a blog during these progress checks, showing a compilation of what people have accomplished during that two weeks.I'm not going to penalize anyone for not meeting this progress check, but I'd highly recommend participating in it as it helps boost activity and builds interest in your game as well as others'.Rules
There aren't many rules and nobody's going to get disqualified for anything, but I just want to answer a few questions before they're asked.- You are allowed to work on existing games, no matter the level of completeness.- You are allowed (and encouraged) to post screenshots, videos, and demos.- Given the nature of the Completition, you're not required to do everything within the event period.- You are allowed to use content you didn't make yourself, as long as you have permission from the creator.- Finally, please don't be stingy. Comment on others' work. Play some demos, give some advice. We're creators and we need this sort of thing. How to Enter
Just like last year, this is public entry. Leave a comment telling us a little about the game you're entering. Tell us the name, show us a screenshot, and tell us what you plan to do with the game. Now is the time to set some realistic goals, such as play time, core mechanics, and stretch goals. There's no cutoff for late entries but any entries that happen during the competition period must still be made on this blog (don't worry about bumping), using the same format as the other entries. If you're having trouble deciding what game to work on, post them here and ask others which game they want to see. You'll have to give a description and screenshot for those too, but I'll still keep track of the entries.List of Participants

The start time is up to your interpretation, but the end time will be at 11:59 PM GMT, during which I'll round up all the finished games, consolidate them in a single ZIP file, and say a few words of praise. But there's nothing stopping you from starting now. I just thought that giving people a few days would be better than "HEY GUYS WE'RE STARTING RIGHT THIS SECOND GET HYPE".
Fuck it.
I'm entering with the working title I Love Egg Simulator.Originally intended to be a graphically simple reboot of Lixim, my revised goal with this game is to make a sort of nonlinear action survival game, with creature raising on the side. My eventual goal is to flesh out that creature raising but for now I'd like to get a bunch of zones and mechanics mapped out so it feels like an actual world.I don't really think I'll end up finishing, but I think I can make good progress over the next two months. This was a really difficult decision but in the end I chose it over The Twilight Realm, which has so much sentiment that I want to release it where people would actually enjoy it. The reception has been great and I have a heartwarming number of people asking me to revisit it, fix it, and finish it. I just have the hardest time working on it without getting nostalgic (which for me is a mood-killer).Since this is just a completition, are we allowed to submit more than one entry?
Not to cheat or anything, it's just that my submit probably won't take long to finish…entering with Walk
this has altogether too many characters already and i am going to kill all of them* finishing highly unlikely because i can foresee logistical difficulties already, but i'll make a start** …have i mentioned this is the third time i'll be programming this from scratchI will take this opportunity to try something new: 3D.
While I'm not certain of what the final game will be, I suspect it will be an ugly, overambitious, FPS.Working title: Sandwich Preacheri'd like to enter!
adventure game go!title: The Grovegoals: release technical demo -> release fully featured demoGordy, prepare to win awards. I want the credit for all of that hard work I did watching you post screenshots of your beautiful game! >:(
WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALK
Will be entering with… a game, I'll choose later~I'll enter with Moldy Apples I hope, will post an update later :).
I guess I'll enter. I'm making a game about solving cool puzzles and exploring and space. Here's a screenshot of what I made last night (my first time designing an environment with models):
I have no idea where I'm going with this, and I'm not sure if I can really set a goal for myself at this point. I know I won't have the game finished before the deadline. I guess the best goal I can set is to have a decent list of different environments planned out and partially modeled, as well as a good number of puzzles designed and/or functioning in the game.I wish I could be a little less vague, but I've pretty much said everything there is to say, other than the stuff that I'm keeping secret because storytelling!I'm looking forward to ??? the most.
