[DSG] Back on track. New screens.

Posted by DSG on Dec. 5, 2010, 5:16 p.m.

Time to get the ball rolling again. In retrospect, i didnt lose too much, I still have my ideas and I was lucky enough to have a copy of the most recent version of the ruins tile set, as well as greyscale images of those new rock formations so I can get back to where I left off, more or less. I have to re-program in the ledges but it'll give me a chance to code them better. Ive mentioned it before but I think the more climbing and platforming, the better seeing as how running around can get quite boring. I really wish I were'nt such a perfectionist but this game is my baby and I don't want to half-ass a single pixel or line of code. I promise to release this game eventually and I promise it'll be worth the wait. As always, I want people's input which is ofcourse why I keep up such an informative blog haha I mean I practically post about every damn new thing I put into the game lol

I also have you guys to thank for your support and thank you guys for following my blogs and giving your suggestions and criticisms.

In other news, I just noticed the banner had one of the banner suggestions I wrote haha so that's cool. Right now I'm bored out of my mind at a tattoo shop watching my friend get his tattoo retouched. At this party him and I went to we were all pretty crunk and my friend Mike, high off his ass, gave my friend Trev a tattoo of an Irish flag and I suggested it be waving in the wind and tattered up but he decided to go with a boring simple rectangle. Now he's getting it fixed and my friend Tara works at this shop and hopefully she can save the day. I really can't express how much fixing she has to do. The lines look sketchy and the entire thing looks like a crappy gel-pen drawing. Tara's a professional though and pretty talented as well so I have faith in her, I want Trev to get his money's worth and hopefully he's happy with it haha.

[EDIT:]

Anyway, I've re-programmed in the ledges and they are, indeed, better than before. [And goddamn I love his new suit.]

These screens are all of one room. I re-implemented ledges, foregrounds, sun rays, and added some newer stuff! You can't see it in the screens, but I added some sand and dust to the environment so when you run around or jump or slide or land you kick it up. You can kinda see it in the bottom left screen.

Yep, Back on track.

Good for you, if I lost two months of work I would probably quit without any kind of hesitation.

Whenever you rewrite/recreate something it's always faster the second time. Not to mention you're usually able to do a better job because you know exactly how to do everything.

Your courage inspires me to work on PLatformed.

@SixWinged: Yea, that's true, and I can avoid all the trial and error

^that

It's usually why I like to restart old projects (though I usually get bored of it in one day)

Nigga, that's tight.

Tighter than a 12-year-old

12-year-old virgin, that is.

(You have to specify these things nowadays.)
