-DSG- Depths and the iPhone

Posted by DSG on Nov. 3, 2012, 8:51 p.m.

So, I'm transferring DEPTHS to GM:S…

…and there's a LOT of re-coding I need to do. I suppose I have, in my amateur coding style, taken full advantage of that little "treat uninitialized variables as zero" option that was available in GM8.1 and previous versions.

I gotta tell ya, it's an easy trick to code faster but definitely screwed me over. I should've known. Oh well.

It's time to upgrade to GM:S and I DO plan to make it available for iPhone (I just got an iPhone, too) and hope to have a future in being an app developer for Android and iOS systems. After all, that's where the money is and with money, I can create better games as I will have access to better software. ^^ I already completely rely on Photoshop to create the graphics I do, as I feel like I have a somewhat unique style in that I really focus on combining pixel-art with Photoshop editing. In fact, much of what I do in Photoshop has changed my mindset when it comes to taking full advantage of the variety of blend modes in GM to create unique, lightweight lighting systems in Depths.

Anyway, I'll have screens soon.

Thanks.

Also, as for S4D, I gotta say there was an awesome turnout.

I apologize for not having a submission, I spent the first month and a half devising a concept I liked and had no time to execute that idea. Eh.

Yeah Kilin, develop a fucking game already.

The only thing keeping me from doing that is the fact that few people here would play it and I suck at publication. I'd seriously consider paying someone for advertising anything I develop. I'm talking a few hundred dollars. I'm not cheap.

But this blog is about Depths.

Well, I want to port Depths, so, that's why I'm getting it. I haven't purchased a mac or the $200 port yet, but I will.

I have to pitch an idea for an iPhone app as part of a competition at uni.

Let me pitch depths :(

On a serious note, you should get someone to code this for you. It would probably be better. And actually work out cheaper.

Too bad I don't have that kind of money to employ someone.

Yes. But, I just got rid of my iPhone. I'm an Android user now. Sigh.
