Everyone Hates 64digits

HAY, I'M RECYCLING A BLOG

If you happened to have clicked my page, here's a screenshot of a game I'm making for a Poppenkast contest. Three hours is the limit, and I've spent a little over two on it. I need to finish off the level design, but that's about it.

So tell me what you think! (blog updated on June 8th)

Below is the old, dusty entry…

——————————————————————-

Putting aside the deliberate exaggeration in the title, I’d like to say “Hiâ€?. Not everyone hates 64digits, but apparently a lot of people do.

I’ve been lacking the motivation to write blogs frequently. Again. But I think that today I might have found something at least mildly interesting to read about. Last weekend while I was suffering from a severe case of boredom, in a time period about half an hour, I came across some rather… funny things people had to say about 64digits. Never would I have thought that the fruit of near-idle browsing would be a topic for a blog. Some of these quotes I found when I was reading the Game Maker Blog, something I never do. I never read it because of the writers’ clear bias towards a number of things (one of them being 64digits). Other (funnier) quotes I found on sites like Snow Moons. So instead of writing a long boring blog, I’ll just leave you with the snippets of hate I found.

Quote:
64D is just too…meh.

-Coffee

I’ve also decided to quit Snowmoons and return to 64digits. Why, you ask? Because I feel like it.

XD I’m lying, I wouldn’t return to that place, not now, not ever.

-RedChu
Strangely, RedChu has, indeed, returned.

Quote:
Those 64 digit songs are rubbish.

-Phil Gamble
PY, we all know they’re not. *Hugs*

Quote:
The whole “64digits gets hacked againâ€? business has really impacted my image of their service: what’s so great with them if they get hacked every month, by staff members?

-Tuntis

Quote:
I can’t believe how off-pitch that was. Ugly. With low quality mic’s.

Fuckin’ 64D nerds.

-Medieval

Quote:
Isn’t white & nerdy suitable for 64D nerds?

-Medieval

Quote:
It’s more deserving of the YoYo name than the GameMaker owners, it’s 64digits.

On the fourth the site was taken down because a member had found an exploit, again. Sadly it is now back online.

-Phil Gamble

So there you have it. These are only some of the many things people have to say about 64digits. Funny how people can channel so much hate towards a web site.

So why do people hate 64digits so much? I don’t know. Maybe because 64digits is better than the other communities, that’s why.

I think Phil has some severe issues he has to work out.

If anything I think it's because of the sheer arrogance of a lot of members. Arrogant or either useless blog-replies with no constructiveness or whatsoever.

And yeah, also the elitist attitude, mainly from people who are far from elite. Oh, and the reactions to the blogs of girls are just scary.

Don't get me wrong though, there's also cool people around here (Kenon and ESA as far as I know people who replied here) but that doesn't change the global image I had/have. (I'm pretty new here and a lot of the replies on my blogs supported the cliché)

Optimists are more fun than pessimists. Now I'm sure I spelled that wrong, but oh well…
Agreed, being optimistic is much more fun. And, actually, you spelt both words correctly.

I agree with Cysion. If you had been around here last year, you would have noticed that some of the posts had uncanny resemblences to ones that could have been found on 4chan. Not to say it's changed, but with Shadow Yoshi leaving, it's certainly lessened.

Amen, brother :)

The responses to girl's blogs are scary. It's surprising how many people post on them. Strangely, it's they're rather entertaining to read :S

I think the problem is that if you are with so many people that are arrogant/cocky, you find yourself emulating their personalities. In the real world or on the internet.

Cysion, spend a little more time here, you may like it. Of course, your natural habitat is GM Clans, but there are some interesting people to meet here as well. See you around!

What a stupid site. Down time is coming soon. Probably 'cause that Canadonian guy wanted to hack it.

On a slightly more serious note, I don't think it's possible to defend against these people's ideas of 64D. They don't like 64D, and a lot of what they built their view of 64D off of was true. Now that it's been set, they don't care if 64D has changed at all, or if what they saw/experienced was only a small slice of 64D.

What can you do? RedChu came back, and maybe others will too. And when they do, I'll have flashback waiting. >:)

But really, I don't care if people hate 64D. We still get an average of three new users and at last one new submission per day, and as the creator, who's working on v3, I like seeing what people don't like about us.

There's more than that; I only took the more interesting ones, that were blatant and in-your-face.

I'm sure most of these people have only posted a blog or two, and are relying on things they've heard before to judge 64D.
