As you guys may have known, I'm a big fan of Epic Games, and particularly the Gears of War series. The art in those games have just had a HUGE influence on my art style ever since I got a taste of Unreal Tournament 2004. But when I saw UT3 and Gears of War, just those over the top detailed characters, guns, environments, the fucking -ace- art directing, I just flip-flopped from all the anime I was doing to what I do currently. So I mean, I'm not just mindlessly following the series; it has influenced me, a lot. If it wasn't for those games, I probably would have never found the world of concept art.Minus all the blabbing, I have been collecting Gears of War items lately, and man is it awesome. I'm just in love with every aspect of the series. The collecting really started when my gf got me the GoW3 Limited Edition controller for Xmas, and on my B-day, I was sent even more GoW stuff. I needed moooooreeee. And so recently, I've gotten more.I started with the GoW3 figures from NECA.Had to wait a while for Marcus to get here, but I got him eventually.I decided to order Anya too, so I could have all six of them in the series 1 and 2 GoW3 figures. Even though I don't really like Anya.Next I decided I needed to make it official. So I needed limited editions, collectors editions, that sort of stuff. And most definitely, the Gears of War3 Epic Edition.[From to left to right: Gears of War: Limited Collectors Edition - Gears of War 2: Limited Edition - Gears of War 3: Epic Edition - the games below them are the regular GoW 1 2 and 3]Here's a crappy pic of the statue I received from the Epic Edition. It's made by Triforce, so of course it is fuckin' excellent.Aaand the Limited Edition GoW3 Brady Guide which I mostly just got as a collectors item. Came this morning. There are a bunch of other little things I have: the GoW2 wristband, GoW3 COG tags, two different GoW3 keychains, Bulletstorm: Epic Edition which came with the GoW3 Beta, just tons of stuff. So I'm not even done collecting yet, but I have to stop for a while as I'm due in Scotland early this August. But here's what I got on the way.AnyaAnd I've been thinking about getting one of these team metal blue retro lancer replicas from Gamestop. But I can't really figure if it's worth the $100.Anyways. Not much else to say, due to the lack of art these days, as I have been doodling in my sketchbook more than I have digitally, and scanning all those pages is a bitch. Expect a sketchdump in my next blog.Ahhh I feel bad for not leaving anything off. Here, have this GoW fan-art character I made up a year ago.
Yeah, if I had a dollar for every book written that was based on an over americanized video game series I would be freaking rich.

Sometimes I really wish novels/comics/movies weren't made for video games. It makes the series hard to follow/expensive.@Hel: Yea, concept art is extremely tough and competitive, but I think I can move on through. Getting any job with art is basically one big competition in escence.
@Kamira: I actually haven't read the books. I would like to get them, but if I get one, I'll have to get them all, and that'd cost. Right now I'm looking into getting the comics, which I'm more interested in.On Judgement, I can't wait for it. Personally, I don't think it's too soon, because it's not being developed by Epic. Epic is done with the series, Judgement is being picked up by PCF, and at that, it's a prequel focused on the early days of E-Day. As a fan, I won't doubt it'll be awesome. But after this, I think it should stop. Also, the time between Gears3 and Judgement is the same as it was between Gears1 and 2. @Pounce: Hahaha, I'm probably the biggest gearhead here, I'll add you when I pop on Live.@JID: Cliffy only has a guiding hand in Judgement, It's PCF that is running the development show.@LAR: Yep, lol.@Mega: Get it, if not for the story, the multiplayer. I never did like the MP of GoW1 and 2, but 3 has it aced.@Cesque: I got a bunch of Warhammer/Warhammer 40k books, and a Halo book I still gotta read, lol.@Juurian: Then you could spend that money buying books based on movies.@Qwilder: True, true. But I think a lot of the times it's to show those sides of things that they couldn't show in the games without making it too busy. So I mean, main story in the game, and extra little details in the comics and books seems perfectly fine to me. Even though it costs a lot more. Plus we got wikis now.Edit: Judgement > Whatever the fuck Exile was gonna beMake your own replica of that gun.
I would if I had any sort of crafting skills.
