Can you think of "jobs" or "positions" that a Dwarf race in a fantasy game would have? For example, an elf class in video games usually consist of various archers and magicians. Such as a hunter, ranger, huntress, spellcaster, mage, etc… What would you expect out of a Dwarf race? As far as I know, the typical axeman comes to mind. Maybe a spellcaster, but I think of the Dwarf race as a brute force type of character. Any opinions or ideas? Suggestions would be helping me out with a particular character class in a project.

It is well known that all dwarves ever do is dig min-
Are dwarves known to farm at all? Food could go into play there. I could see a baker.
You know….
It's okay to break cliches once in a while. If you want a dwarf to farm, then for God's sake, let him farm.Usually dwarves get the mining gigs, but then I thought of Terry Pratchett stuff. Where dwarves get to do things like being police officers and wizards despite having roots in mining.
(the thing being that the mining gigs are because the dwarves' smaller stature can fit better in small tunnels an such)edit: but yes terry pratchett style breakin stereotypes go for itNever heard of Terry Pratchett. Googled him and saw he's an author. Can't say I've read anything written by him. Any examples of what he does to stay out of the cliches?
Might be that I'm sleepy, but the first thing I thought of was blacksmith. Hm.
I can see why dwarves haven't been depicted as farmers, though. They're just so little. But if you really think about it, they're lower to the ground, making it easier to tend to short crops like potatoes and lettuce and stuff. I guess they could harvest wheat, too, because all you need to do is cut the whole thing with a scythe and collect it…http://www.bay12games.com/dwarves/
