Starting my first indie

Posted by Hypernova on Nov. 13, 2012, 10:28 p.m.

I'm starting an indie inspired by some other indies. There's too many Mario fangames, and I'm sick of doing lame "Here we go!" stuffs. Plus most of them are pretty bad.

If anyone have any suggestions or advise feel free to point that out.

EDIT: A tiny progress on the Miner (Quick Class):

Yep, he's a tiny bit inspired from TF2 engineer.

Ugg. Still can't figure out what's the wrapper for the comment/posting section. : /

Good to see you move on from fangames :) Your games looked quite well executed, but I think I'm not alone with not looking twice at a mario fan game. I like the sprite!

As for suggestions, I say make a bunch of things with small scope and experimental gameplay. It's a good route to go because working on long games is when you start to get ideas about completely different games (it's irritating, I seem to want to work on everything but what I'm working on sometimes), so this lets you experiment/see what mechanics are worth fleshing out, and it's good practice.

Please tell me you're going to change your font color soon so my eyes don't start wanting to die from coming over here.

Yes, my eyes hurt too. But how come when I click apply button, it won't do anything. I can't change anything in my preference.

Something is wrong with his preferences page, any mod can view it and see for themselves (just edit the url)

The security features in v2 would have prevented that issue =p

The security features available in v3 that no one utilized would have prevented it too. :(
