Game Maker and Onlive :3

Yes, for all those who haven't heard, Game Maker is now officially awesome. I don't care what any of you say bad about it. The first game maker game to be released on an Iphone is out now for a small price of 99 cents(I sure as hell ain't buying it). I can't wait to see what people are going to be able to pull off with game maker in the next 5-15 years. I am pretty sure Game maker will function with consoles like Xbox, Playstation or WII by then. Oh, the possibilities. GM is also on PSP too which is cool too. :P

Now on to another matter, some shit called Onlive came out a few days ago. Don't know what it is? I'll tell you, you lazy obese sonavabitch. Imagine Xbox Live. Now imagine it on your PC. Now, imagine being able to play high end current-gen games on your shitty 10 year old computer. Yes, you heard me right. You can now play games like Mafia 2, Red Faction and quite a few high end games, right on that shitty thing you call a computer. I played it on my somewhat average computer, and it performed without a hiccup. There are probably only about 15 games available now. But tons more should be available within the coming months. The only downside to it for me though, is that you can't actually own your game in your hands, all the games you play are through the Onlive servers, so if the Onlive servers suddenly go haywire or explode or something like that, yo ass ain't playing yo game until dat shit fixed.

And obese stripper midget will be laughing at you.

Also here's some RANDOM GAME ALPHAS of mine.

I believe OnLive was officially launched about three months ago or so.

It launched last month I think? Correct me if I'm wrong.

You do understand that services like OnLive are most likely the future of gaming (and other applications) right? The fact that some people think they need a piece of plastic that would 'physically' contain the game they bought isn't going to change that.

Cloud computing has advantages for both producers and consumers (in terms of videogames), just because OnLive is not as cheap as they could be, doesn't mean the concept is as bad as you seem to think. Bit narrow minded perhaps?

Wait what, you talking to me? I never said Onlive was bad, in fact I said it was good. The console version will fail though.

Steam>OnLive

Theres no reason to expect future companies to run all our software for us when our computers will be able to handle it just fine.

JID: What is the difference between the console and PC version? Both systems will be used as a 'terminal', they both use hardware that can get outdated.

KaBob799: Money seems like a good reason for *any* company to do *anything*. Just an idea though…

Also, where Steam makes it unnecessary to leave the house in order to buy games, services like OnLive make it unnecessary to leave the house in order to upgrade your computer or buy a new console. Will be relatively cheaper too, since you can share computing power.

@ Mordi Oh okay.

@Lapixx That's the problem, there is no difference, why play Onlive on a shitty resolution, you can't actually own your games, and a bad controller when you can have Xbox360, PS3 or even a Wii.

And again, I have to show you the unholy blasphemy hunk of shit they call a controller.

Running extra servers (games use a lot more power than downloads) and not being able to sell hardware as often = less money for the company. It might mean more money for OnLive, but I doubt many other companies are going to benefit.

Also, like I said in my earlier comment, computers are going to reach a point where you don't need to upgrade to play most new games. At that point the whole idea of cloud processing for games would be useless because everything would be able to run games anyway.

TVs/cell phones/keyboards/controllers/whatevers will need replaced just like a computer, so it doesn't get rid of the need for hardware anyway.

@KaBob799: well, unlimited detail could make it possible for much more scenery and a LOT more detail. However, for someone who doesnt want to pay for a system, or is ADD with games it might be helpful. However i think it wont be as helpful to other people.
