What grade would you give E3?

Posted by JID on June 8, 2011, 11:37 p.m.

I'll give it about a B

Grade for Microsoft Conference:

D

Grade for Sony Conference:

B

Grade for Nintendo:

B+

Also, I think that this E3 didn't have much in terms of exclusives for each console, it was quite dissappointing.

Lastly, what are you looking forward to playing the most?

My list(No particular order):

Gears of War 3, it looks like a blast to play online with friends, it's co-op mode, horde especially.

Minecraft for 360 :p

Uncharted 3

Battlefield 3

Assassin's Creed Revalations

I have a whole lot more to add to this list, but it'd be too much. :p

There's actually some games that have neccessary sequels, like Assassin's Creed, for example, it's story is so big and it stretches over centuries. Also, I liked Assassin's Creed's trailer the best out of every trailer I've seen at E3, but you might have to understand what's going on with the story to like it.

Meh. I'm one of those people who just don't like the Assassin's Creed ridiculous "revive your ancestor's memories" plot, so it won't work on me as an excuse for spewing out sequels. The new game looks way too much like the previous titles (similar period and setting) - not to mention the protagonist. You'd think that after a while, historians would note the presence of a generation of guys wearing white capes and hoods in public and realise they can't be trusted.

If they went too far to be innovative, Zelda games wouldn't sell like they do today. It's that dungeon-crawling, bomb-throwing, eye-slashing, hookshotting experience that Zelda fans like. Changing it would probably not attract any more fans. They've got a solid foothold after all.

Well, yeah (see Juju and his "rain isn't here to water our crops" metaphor), but I liked what they did with Wind Waker (cel-shading) and Twilight Princess (more "mature" theme). The new game probably isn't going to be in any way memorable, so it's just an OoT clone made for the money.

If I had to choose one game to play at E3, it would have been Skyrim. Have you seen the Spike TV video? It's, well. Just epic. I cant find any word that describes it better really.

Other than Skyrim, I can't wait for BF3, Forza 4, Dead Island and Bioshock Infinte. Despite being a Halo fan, I did'nt really get hyped about Halo 4 nor Halo CE HD remake.

Microsoft - D+

Kinect was a good idea, and I'm glad your bringing games out for it, but why don't you try encouraging GOOD games. I highly dislike terrible children's games and terrible actors. You had both.

IDGAF about Halo 4, Youtube, or TV. :\

Sony - B

Excited about the PSV and all the new games coming out. I like the fact that Sony quickly got the PSN apology out and then, subsequently, decided to put their focus on ALL of their platforms, not just the PSV. Great support all around, from my opinion, but sweaty, wheezing guys are kind of a let down. To have a perfect show I would like to see PSN improvements, so players can actually talk and interact with each other.

Nintendo - B-

I would have given them an A, but they really didn't release ANY information that I would care to know about the Wii U. I wanna know hardware specs, I want game announcements, I want SERIOUS 3rd party support, I want to see what you can do with the new controller besides the obvious (lol window pictures), I want to know the prices of each piece of hardware, I want a halfway decent online system (at least to the mediocre standards of PSN), I DONT WANT ANY GODDAMN FRIEND CODES, and I don't want any HD remakes of games that have already had multiple remakes. No Mario 64 HD, no Super Mario Bros. Wii U HD, NONE OF THAT CRAP NINTENDO.

3ds is looking better - I like the games that have been announced and the vibrant colors. I don't like all of the remakes.

This has been the year of the remakes, and it's pissing me off. We already have WAY too many sequels, at least be creative enough NOT to constantly re-release games. I love Mario, Zelda, Link, Ratchet and Clank, Halo, etc. I'm also tired of seeing them do the same things over and over. Why not pour the new ideas for the sequels into new characters and universes. It will give the creators more freedom to do what they want, due to the lack of established expectations from franchise followers.

But that won't happen because people are fucking retarded sheep that eat the grass that is in front of them, no matter how old and rehashed it is.

Edit: Wow, I've been on a wall-o-text binge for a few days. :P

Was Twilight Princess memorable? It was probably my least favorite game in the franchise. At some point I gave up on the frustrating dungeons and grabbed a guide because I was sick of the game and wanted it to be over so I could say I finished it.

And the cel-shading style in WindWaker was criticized very hard, if you don't remember. If that doesn't make Nintendo a little iffy about trying new art styles, they'd be a lot stronger of a company than I thought.

Yeah, but that's all because people expect every Zelda game to be the new OoT. There's no way to make another OoT, you may just as well try some innovation.

The Zelda series in general remind me of Robin Hood or the Arthurian Legends. Every time it's the same bloody story (and gameplay) over and over and over again, but told in a different way. But if you stop trying to come up with a new way to tell it, it'll be just boring.

Oh well, we'll see.

Halo 4 just totally fucking sums up E3 this year. Old ideas with new names.

I don't mind sequels if they're good, worth time playing, and not the exact same as the previous installment.

EDIT: Also, Wii U ditched friend codes. :3
