I've officially completed highschool now. I'm so extremely relieved that's all done with.
Since that chapter of my life is complete, now, i'm struggling to find out what i want to do next.I've been thinking about taking some game design courses or whatever during the summer, but I'm not completely sure what I want to do yet. That said, I know that I don't want to go to college right away. I want to find out what I really want to do with my life exactly, so I don't jump the gun on anything. While I try to figure out what to do, I'm going to try to work extremely hard on a few games over the summer. Hopefully, I'll have some decent ideas for what I want to do next. I'm really confused and anxious about what I'm going to do now since I've graduated, but I really want to actually do something with myself, and I'll try to focus on what I want out of the next few years.
Life post high school is immeasurably better, as long as you can get away from your parents.
You could take classes at a college, but not necessarily declare a major - just sign up for subjects that interest you and see if you might want to pursue them. At the very least, you get class credit which can be helpful if/when you decide to apply to a 4-year program.Congratulations.
Take a year off before deciding what to do next; gives you some time to orientate yourself. Also, take a look at MIT's OpenCourseware listing to see if there are any University courses that you think you can handle. Helps to prepare beforehand.I also just graduated, and among bashing my brains into tiny bits and other things, I plan on going to my local 2-year community college here in Michigan then transferring to a 4-year (possibly in California).
Life is a slow, painful process for me.Go to community college, it's cheap, you can get your shit straightened out, and it looks like you are doing something. (or you can actually do something once you feel like it, starting at a comm college is a great way to get to places you couldn't get to out of highschool)
I originally planned on going into software development when I graduated highschool. But I took the first semester off to help think about if that's what I actually want to do at my university. I ended up deciding I wanted to go into business more, and am now double majoring in Business Management and Marketing. I love the classes so far. Though, you can still switch majors while in college, you should get it figured out before you're done with gen eds. IF YOU'RE GOING TO COLLEGE THAT IS.
Congrats.
