So mine and Deza's game 'Rooms' is finally complete, it took a month and we just managed to get it finished in time but all together it was a success! [:)]
Instead of using any advanced version control software we just used dropbox; it seemed to do the job apart from the odd occasions when we both worked on the same class by mistake, in which case it just created multiple copies of the same class which are easy enough to fix. Also, this is my first ever post on 64digits and I joined this site purely because of the scary four digits competition. It is the first time I have created something worthy of bearing the title 'Game'. I couldn't have done it on my own and Deza was a good motivator and team-mate.The 64 digits community also seem very friendly and have caused me to visit this site very often to check on updates within the community, I can see myself staying here for a long time [:)]Boat get!
I'm just joking you :P
It's based on a post-count:released games ratio.Since yours is currently 1:1, then I was assuming that soon enough it would climb to 10:10 and so on :VIn contrast, mine is ~30:0, so you also made your first post beating out lots of people at this ratio :DSo I checked out your game. You can walk through many walls, especially in the second room.
It's due to my lack making a decent game loop. The lower the fps the more likely it is you can go through walls. This is especially true for the second level, which is large and much more demanding.
>The lower the fps
>Looked like it was running smoothly the whole timeMy specs:2.67 GHz Intel Core i5 7506 GB DDR3-1333 RAM1 GB NVIDIA GeForce GT 220Hai! Welcome to 64Digits! Please leave your sanity in the red box by the door, don't feed ChIkEn, submit to the mind altering code, and all hail the mighty potfrog! :D
It's not due to java - It's due to my inability to program a fastish 2D engine :P
Thanks Ferret, I will take the necessary actions involving all of those points! :D
And don't worry about it Deza, it's not like we're claiming to be the best programmers in the world or anything anyway! ;DAnd as for Java, it is a good language that is capable of running at good speeds (sure, not the best but it's a fun language to use anyway). Look at Minecraft for example, that was made using Java and it doesn't lag horriblyJava is Hard.
But the benefits are rewarding.
