Game Maker 9

Posted by S3xySeele on Sept. 7, 2011, 10:58 a.m.

Coming out sometime in 2012, apparently.

Supposedly a complete rewrite and will sport a ton of new features. No information on what these new features actually are, so guess we'll just have to stay tuned.

What I'm excited about though is that Game Maker 9 will be available for both PC and Mac. No longer will Mac GM users be stuck one step behind the PC version. :)

It better have an extreme discount or be free for GM8 owners, it took me months just to buy GM8 at $25 so if they expect me to pay $40 for GM9 they are crazy.

Indeed. Though if it still has the stupid DRM that GM 8.1 has where it has to revalidate your license once a month, I won't be buying it.

Yeh I won't be buying that. Protest with your wallets, people, words obviously aren't enough to show them how much they've got it wrong.

With a price of $200 for GM:HTML5 I expect a similar price for GM9

Well I mean the upgrade price, GM9 new is probably gonna still be $40. The extra versions of GM cost so much becase they are unnecessary and hurt YYGs ability to make money off of our games, GM9 would never go that high.

I do not follow your logic. They freaking priced the HTML5 version at $200!

Of course, I don't follow YYG's logic either. So I actually don't know what makes sense anymore.

KaBob799 13 years, 3 months ago

Because you can use GM without HTML5 and it would mostly be for commercial games that don't want to deal with YYG. So they can price it ridiculously because the people who actually need it will have money and because they wont be making any money from the HTML5 games, unlike the games they sell on iWhatever.

It would make testing tough since things what work in GM8/9 wont necessarily work in GMHTML5 and even things that do work might be too slow.
