IGTM Official Trailer

Hey guys. I'm sure a few of you have heard of this but just in case you haven't:

Indie Game: The Movie is in the final stages of production and they just released an official trailer. I'm one of the official backers of the movie and I just wanted to share it with you guys. It follows the creators of Braid, Fez, and Super Meat Boy throughout production and their psychological states during production as well as what independent gaming means to them and why they do what they do. It's really looking great so far and I think you all should check out the trailer on their site if you have some time today.

@SMP - I wouldn't have backed a movie that Cactus had any major part in. I hate him.

@Cesque - cool story, bro.

:D I may have just been convinced to now see it…

I'm curious, why all the cactus hate?

DesertFox 13 years, 4 months ago

He accidentally sat on a cactus once, and had to have it surgically removed :D

The intensity was pretty lol to me.

Some of the developers interest me in the film. As in, I always hear about them/their games. :P

I just don't particularly like Cactus because I don't think he's ever made a decent or realistic game that I could like, either because:

-They're too short, and the is always underdone and unexplored

-They're too damn hard, but the difficulty is just silly and unbalanced

-They're too ridiculously strange, just for the sake of being strange, on the inverse making them less strange and messed-up as they come across, in turn making themselves look cheesy/try-hardish.

Also, Cactus just acts like such a douche. Has anyone seen his IGF Nuovo award acceptance speech?

>_>

Bah, I already said it once to SJF (which he probably ignored since he doesn't like when people hate on other things than he hates on), but I thought the "speech" was funny. * I just don't think he deserved the award in the first place.

* By funny, I mean infinitely more funny than "Working as an indie developer is like a fucking concentration camp, because, you see, trying to reach the programming deadline is almost exactly the same as having your possessions and family taken away, being starved, overworked and tortured for months, then suffocating for 10 minutes in a gas chamber."

Also, I don't think you all need to worry about cactus anymore, he seems to have died from spontaneous combustion shortly after announcing the third Mondo game is coming out soon.

*checks his Twitter*

Well… I was close.

And what ever happened to Tuning? Still completely unfinished like every other game he's released?

Cesque 13 years, 4 months ago

Yeah, pretty much. It's awfully nice of IGF to give out a money award for a game that's not only unreleased with no public demos, but will never actually be released.

I still like cactus, though :>

Most indie games and their developers are overrated.

I think this is a phenomenon we can associate with these first forays into "games as art". It has its pros and cons. Along with the originality and the expression, we also get the narcissistic bullshit and the expression.

I'd like to see the movie regardless, however. Fez looks beautiful, too.
