RPG Compo (?)

> Taizen Chisou: host a compo

i'm sorry, but what

So, RPG comp?

Any people in support of the existence of one?

Any people in support of someone else hosting?

Someone else please host or I'll have to do it and it'll be a sad day.

MY HYPOTHETICAL RULES IN THE CASE NO ONE IS A COOL DUDE AND VOLUNTEERS TO HOST:

- teams of seven or less

- all contributors are to be listed as a 'team member'

—–that is to say that Random Dude From Internet Who Donated A Sprite takes up one of your seven spaces

- runs from Sunday, 22 April to Sunday, 1 July (that is nine weeks.)

- at least one hour of gameplay (with a beginning, middle, end, story, etc. etc. etc.)

- not strictly RPG, but RPG elements are required

And that's it.

I personally would love to have an RPG competition on the site, I think it'd get me to actually make one. But we know how good of a track record I have when it comes to competition entries.

Which is another point-do you think anyone could complete an entry?

Any ideas?

I thought Toast was going to do it when us college peoples get out in May…

BY ALL MEANS HE SHOULD DO IT THEN

Toast is hosting. (Hah!)

And I assure you I will put up a very good fight in this comp.

One hour of gameplay would weed out a lot of people. Limiting to RPG elements rather than an RPG would be preferable, since I do hybrids.

An RPG quickly thrown together in 9 weeks is not going to be that great. I'd participate if there were more time.

Yeah, I'm struggling with the stuff I have on my plate now. Totally can't commit to this. I do have a great idea for a mini compo though. (About a week long.)

I'll probably announce that when I don't have so many other obligations and can actually commit to hosting a compo w/ a prize.

what exactly are "RPG elements" anyway?

i do not understand these categorizations

Everyone gets burned out over just two weeks. It's very difficult to strike a balance between enough time to get quality work out there, and so much time that people lose motivation.

Well, 9 weeks I thought would be somewhere in the middle of that regarding the genre involved :<

Taizen, its a really good idea, but I'm just saying that I-MYSELF-PERSONALLY could not participate. :P
