Everybody knows how much I love harping on about competitions…
… so it seems only right that I mention that the biggest 48hr/72hr game jam on the internet is starting on Friday/Saturday.I personally will be taking part again and I was curious if anybody else was going to.This time I think I'll be tackling the more leniant 72hr game jam, rather than the 48hr competition, because I have to go on a somewhat inconvienient ferry trip on the Sunday. It also means I can work in a team, so if anybody wants to, let me know. There's also a rather interesting $1,250 competition hosted on a different site* which is running alongside 'Dare. Although it appears you'll have to get a US citizen to enter for you.So yes. Discuss, don't discuss, or if your name is colseed, +1 everything you see.*Warning: community may contain arseholes
watch the winner of the contest be some sort of commodore64 to modern gaming transition game.
The theme gave a me a random idea for a Crimsonland-style shooter where you can kill various monsters for the same XP reward in a limited time and your choice of "easy" targets would affect the features of the "surviving" monster population in later rounds, but that'd probably turn out shit.
I don't know about anyone else, but I've got an awesome idea and I'm willing to take a coffee enema if it means I can stay up long enough to complete it.
Edit: Watch there be literally hundreds of terrible pseudo-RPG's where you start off as a bacteria and slowly grow into a fish, and then a fish that can walk, and then a dinosaur, etc etc or some lame derivation of that. My idea is so much better >:DI want to enter this, but I'm lazy and can't think of anything. And I was hoping the theme would be less generic.
