I'm making a game for 64DSC. Since I've never made a game before, I'm sure I won't win anything, but hey, it'll be a fun learning experience.
Here it is, a sidescrolling platformer inspired by Wario Land and Metroid 2. I considered working the limited color palette into a game mechanic, before realizing that would wind up being something INSANE that I cannot do as my first game project. Will be sure to keep this updated with more details.
The point is to have fun! :D What sort of tools are you using to make the game? Good luck on your first game by the way!
Don't worry about winning, just make the best game you can make! :D
That looks pretty good or someone who hasn't made a game before. Good luck and have fun!
i love the gameboy palette! is that a wisp beside the character?
InvisibleMan - I'm using Game Maker, I managed to scoop up a license back when they were free and have just sort of been sitting on it since then, waiting for when I felt I had time to make a game, and well, here I am.
Gordy - Yes it is, I made sprites for the character jumping and moving and crouching and what have you and then remembered that I wanted him to also be able to punch people, which would force me to make a punching animation for every sprite I had made. Instead of that, I paired him up with a little ghost fella guy that would do a whipping attack animation thing that would be the same no matter if he was crouching, jumping, standing or running.I hope you finish the game, cause I find finishing a game is almost gratifying as making it. Also, aim smaller rather than bigger, then if you finish before the end of the compo, just add more to the game. Hope you do well! ^^
Good luck with the project, and as other people have said, have fun :D. Interesting colour scheme as well, I never thought that colour of green could be so visually pleasing :)
