Why AT&T sucks

I am paying for a "pro" internet plan (DSL) which is $38.00 a month. This plan is supposed to offer 3.0 mbps (megabits per second). i have been paying for this service for over 3 months now. not once has my internet speed ever gone passed 2.0 mbps. it was at about 1.5 for the first 3 months of service.

About 2 weeks ago the service has gotten worse. the speeds are now at about 0.4 mbps. this is completely unusable. it's hard to load any web page and certainly cannot be used to do any of the things mentioned on the site such as "download at lighting fast speeds" or "stream high quality videos". i can't even load a youtube page let alone stream anything on it.

this is my 2nd time with AT&T, the first time i had a similar plan and was getting much better speeds, however i would lose connection repeatedly. i wasn't sure if it was the service or the crappy modem they forced me to pay for but that was completely unacceptable so i left them for Brighthouse (which i'm going to do again)

the only reason i left Brighthouse last time is because when i couldn't pay a bill, they decided i should pay 4 times the original price because i was late paying it. that shit is robbery, so i didn't want to deal with them anymore… but they're the only ones with decent internet service around here. i guess that's why they can get away with being such assholes…

I have DSL internet here with AT&T (until i move out), and I have no problems with it AT ALL. Just the bad upload speeds they offer.

However, this could be because around here if it were shit, they would loose a ton of business. Though the only real competition around here is comcast, which has great internet if you live in the right area.

I use AT&T U-Verse. It's pretty good. 18mbps - a decent 2MB/s download on steam, though it drops to about 1.2 when I'm using netflix or whatever, and no problems of downtime or whatever. But I've only had them for about 4 months.

I've been using AT&T since they bought out cellular-one, and I actually like them a lot. I've never had any problems with them, or their phones, or their service.

@Acid: well aren't you lucky? i suppose it depends on the area. Each county or even smaller, each town/city has it's own AT&T provider so i'm guessing the quality can vary. Much like how some McDonalds always serve cold food and other McDonalds serve fresh food.

i guess i'm just shit outta luck than cause this service blows for me. i'm switching back to the thieves. (Brighthouse)

Comcast is the same way. Great service at first. Completely failed after a few months.
