Minecraft map continued

Edit Discussion will be continued on Stevenup7002's blog

So we will not be restarting the minecraft map.

Rather, we sort of decided that once the bukkit mod is created, we'll split the map into two with a giant wall, and set spawn on one side, and a warp on the other.

On on side will be the creationists - which will inhabit the current area of the map. The current spawn will be replaced with a warp.

For those who want to RP (the survivalists), without /item, /tp, etc, the actual spawn will be on the other side of the wall.

So when you spawn into the server, you will be in the RP world. You can /warp to the creation side. The spawn will be thousands of blocks from the original spawn, so you can't jsut go into the creation side, /item things, and then walk back. You also cannot tp back to the rp side (/sethome and /setwarp will be disabled in teh RP zone), so the only way back to the survivalist side is to die.

So it's still one server, but with two sides, and there will be restricitons applied to the survivalist side.

——————————————-

I also want to make a page (or have stevenup or kabob make a page. =P) with:

- a list of players, their citizenship (if they're playing creation/survival - I think I'll be switching between the two worlds) and their job.

- Maybe the live minecraft map like before.

- A player-drawn map, which sort of explains the rough layout of where each point of interest is in relation to spawn, etc.

- A description of points of interest, who created the point, etc.

- Maybe a lot of what's been going on?

If we could link each whitelist entry to a user in the 64D user database, they could visit 64digits.com/minecraft, and login like they normally would to 64D, and post things in the log, add on to the map, write up about a point of interest, etc. I don't think anyone will ever want to be the one in charge of keeping track of the log and points of interest.

——————————————–

The craftbook mod does not work with the current minecraft/hey0, and it seems to cause lag anyway. Perhaps when bukkit is released, we can bring back craftbook, and possibly bring in a currency mod or something, for the survivalists. But that won't be until bukkit is released, and if things cause lag, then I'm going to disable the mods. I can't afford to keep upgrading the server, just to accomidate mods. =P

The way we've been playing for months is pretty much what the plan is for creative, except we would be giving everybody /tp. I don't know if we ever decided to give everyone /item, or keep it with the ops, which would be the only difference between pure creative and how we have been playing. I think 3 sections is too much.

Theres not much we can do about houses located in the creative area. For one thing, moving them to the new survival area would defeat the purpose of having a new empty area to build in.

Both sides will have enemies, the differences are solely in availability of items and teleportation.

Since the /item debate doesn't appear to be finished, I will list the choices for creative below:

Everybody has /item

Only ops have /item

Ops have /item, everybody else has access to kits (which are built into hey0 right now) that give base resources.

I don't think we should give everyone full /item, but I wouldn't be opposed to the 3rd choice. The idea being that you type /kit log and get 10 logs or something, but /kit coal or /kit stick wouldnt work. You would have to craft/cook the wood to get the non base ingredients. Compared to /item this is a lot of work, as you couldn't just say /item glass 2000 you would have to do /kit sand over and over and then /kit log over and over and then craft/cook them all. And of course, people who hate /item could just ignore the kits entirely.

But I've been under the assumption we were going with choice 2, since it hasn't really been discussed.

I was kind of being sarcastic about labeling people as one or the other.

Everyone is just a minecraft player. If they feel like playing survival, and obeying rules, and assuming a role, then they go to one side of the map. If they don't feel like dealing with that, then they can go to the looser side of the world.

It's not like you're two completely different players on two different world. ALL this is for, is for dividing items.

Creationists aren't the ones who want to restart the map - players who want to start fresh want to restart the map.

josea: I think it's sort of overkill to have three seperate areas. I personally hate the idea of not being able to /tp and /home - I think steven is the only one who wants those removed in survival. If we can get a mod that simply switches your inventory when you get to a certain point int he map, then we can all be /tping around freely.

I don't know shit about creating. I'll take survivalist, if someone wants to elaborate on that a bit.

Since we're on the subject, can you guys white list "Juri" for me. ^.^

In my opinion it's not creative without unlimited blocks, and that pretty much means giving /item to everyone.

The way I see it splitting it in three is the least disruptive way since it doesn't force changes to the people that don't want them. Both 'sides' want changes, what about the guy that would rather build on his islands the same way he has been doing for a month?

Anyways, it's not my choice. I've said many times that as long as you make the map available for download before the changes take place I'll be happy :)

Also, I'd probably split my time 50% on each 'side'.

I guess since half of my "creating" stuff is tunneling into hills and the other half is building random things with the stuff I've collected, I'll say "survivalist" for now.

I don't even know how to use all these commands that have been mentioned….lol

KaBob799 13 years, 10 months ago

I'll be doing 99% of my building on the creative side but if you guys do something interesting I'll probably pop over to check it out, or if I'm bored and somebody needs help =p So probably most of my time will be on creative.

Anyway, creative is just the term we are using for non-survivalists. The only reason to give /item to everyone is if enough people think that is the best choice, otherwise I would just stick with how it is or add the basic kits.

Josea 13 years, 10 months ago

If the creative side is actually just the current server with limited or no kits, I'd be fine with it.

firestormx 13 years, 10 months ago

I'm against /item, but to keep things fair, and since certain people are lazy, I guess kits are the better of the two item evils.
