I have discovered the coolest number ever.
We were in Algebra 2 and we were reviewing complex fractions and exponents.0 to the 0th power, has no mathematical meaning.Let me explain: Any number (besdies 0) to the 0th power is one.x^n * x^0 = x^n (x^n+0)This shows that since the product is equal to one of the factors, the other factor is 1. So this shows that every number to the 0th power is 1.BUT! This is the cool part. 0^0 should be 0, but it also should be 1. It can not be infinity or negative infinity… so it has NO mathematical meaning. If you don't believe me, ask your teacher and make sure they are teaching high school, you'd be surprised how many middle school/elementary teachers have no idea what they're talking about.I was really bored one day and made this cool little photoshopped image:Again, this is definitively the coolest number.
0^0 is considered an "indeterminate". Not 1.
0/0 is considered an "indeterminate". Not 0.Indeterminates are something you learn about in calculus. Meaning you can't say what the answer is without a specific problem. Read more about them here:http://mathworld.wolfram.com/Indeterminate.htmlHere's some links to the answers of 0/0 and 0^0:http://mathforum.org/library/drmath/view/55722.htmlhttp://mathforum.org/library/drmath/view/52400.html-PuffsI agree with SleepinJohnyFish, I always was taught the anything to the zeroth(?) power is one.
Me as well.
and me! =D
what am i agreeing to?wait… what about
pi…EPIE!!!!PIE!!!!!!!^WTF?
^^WTF?lol Cocopuffs, everything learned in Calculus is theory. The laws of mathematics say that I am right. Calculus is only for those that want to know what the universe would be like if it weren't like it is now.
