You only get to see the OP menu when you boot up the game, so that you can decide how you want to experience it, also for those of you with less powerful computers, you can have all the pretty effects taken off to increase performance. (I've also done my best to optimize the game otherwise)
Wondering about that language option? Well it's real, there is an actual Japanese translation ready, because this game does not have much textHey it works!
Pk, GM's default frame rate is 30 :P
Well that explains my problem. The guy who made the engine I'm working with set the framerate to 20.
brb, making my game finally run right. This is a rather slow paced puzzle platformer, not an action platformer.
I don't really think that this game will be defined as much by the platforming as it will the puzzle elements. This game can be summerized as being a bunch of small logic puzzles that are separated by a some platforming segments and stealth segments.Again though, I disagree with you about the frame rate stuff. If I can make it work with 45 or 30, then it's fine that way and people who are wanting to play the game through for the gameplay or narrative will stay playing it as long as it works fine with those frame rates. But since you've clearly been spending a lot of time trying to get this through my head, I'll put in a 60 FPS option just for you. Deal?it's not for me, i'm only pointing out what PC gamers want, you know, your target audience? I could care less what frame rate you use :P
and yes, gamers who enjoy the game will still play through it at a low frame rate and can still like the game but that won't stop them from criticizing the engine. example: Dark Souls PC version. a game that looks and plays fine at 30 fps but even still it got burned hard by the PC gaming community and labeled one of the worst ports despite it having practically no bugs what so ever, all because it didn't have 60 fps and a few other standard graphical options. people went as far as calling it "broken" even though it played flawlessly. i'm just trying to save you the hassle of dealing with that kind of criticism.See, that's where you are wrong, that's not my target demographic. I'm more of a Doujinsoft game designer than a PC gamer game maker in terms of output.
I hate to break it to you but GM8 only compiles for Windows PC, so like it or not, the only people who are going to be playing your game, are PC gamers.
Death? please-
1) Most doujinsoft are PC exclusives.2) Not everyone who plays games on a pc is a "PC Gamer".I have tons of games on Steam, but the only games I really play are made by people I know. I honestly don't even like playing games very much anymore. I like the idea of games more than anything. I don't REALLY consider myself a PC gamer if I have to stick to one title.
FSS's target audience consists of other hobbyists/indies and people who like playing hobbyist/indie games. I'm sure you're giving him more hassle than he'll get from the rest of the people who will play this game. :PEdit: That being said - I do like playing at 60FPS, but I really don't give a damn. :P
