As some of you know, I run a website named Lloyd Owns fayt. Basically, it's a site where we make fun of Star Ocean: Till the End of Time and its fans because the game is just so ridiculous.
What do I mean?Well, take a look at this video:http://youtube.com/watch?v=NrBRTeSrI-IThe first thing you'll notice is the nail-on-a-chalkboard voice acting. Then, you'll notice the horrendous dialogue. I could go on, but I think you get the point that the game is generally pathetic. You also get the point that the main character is a socially inept dork who can't function properly with women. And, that's just getting started. The plot of the game goes like this:You're on a planet. Aliens attack. You escape to an olden planet. You get involved in a filler story for most of the game. They steal the plot from the Matrix and attach it to the end. And, that pretty much sums it up. All in all, I have too much free time and nothing to do in it except make fun of badly done RPGs. HOORAY FOR SUMMER!
A lot of Japanese RPGs have bad story lines now. They're all pretty much the same attempt at the 'epic chosen one saves the planet' cliche. There are some exceptions. But the best story in a game still goes to Planescape: Torment, without a doubt. Just read some of it's reviews. Too bad it didn't make more money.
I tried to play Star Ocean 3. I didn't get it, and failed. Luckily it was only a rental.
Nah, I'll just "buy" the game when I want to play it. Thanks, though!
Cocopuffs, that's right on. Most are just laziness with plotholes. I mean, in the past, RPG plotlines weren't terribly great, but, the plot wasn't as important in those. Like, in Earthbound, the plot isn't a big focus so it can slack. However, in something like Star Ocean, it does play a role because the gameplay is more serious.
