Merging 64digits blog with blogger blog?

Posted by mazimadu on July 29, 2010, 9:39 a.m.

As the above title suggest, I was wondering if it were possible to merge my blogger page with my 64 digits page via php. The reasoning for this is simple. I really, really hate having to type a blog on my page, only to copy and paste it into 64 digits. This is further compounded with the fact that tags for images have to be changed every time. Another problem I have is that most (ok, all) of the comments I get with my blog come from here. If there were a way to attach my comments to my blogger post, that would be nice.

Another very important reason I want the two accounts merged is that I use feedburner to gather my post so I can make them appear on my (largely incomplete) website. It would be nice if my 64digits post and comments (via blogger) reflected on my web page.

So as I ponder on how this may be accomplished, let me hear what you guys think of the matter. In the mean time, I can only hope that the mods of this site get up their lazy asses and make this happen. Some day.

BTW, you can visit my site here to see what it looks like

If I were going to use php, I would use Wordpress already. The problem is not choosing a blog or coding. It is finding a way to display 64d comments into my feed(which are in php btw). Besides, 64d has absolutely NO syndication what so ever, so asking me to choose is a dumb idea.

The reason your not getting a nice discussion is because you asked for something thats not worth making and mostly useless and called everybody lazy.

You might not want to stop using blogger, but I don't want to waste my time making useless features for a site that doesn't pay me anything when I've got a ton of work to do on my own sites.

Also, 64d does have some syndication. We have RSS pages for user pages and also the site news. No comments, but its not "NO syndication what so ever."

That was a sorry attempt at reverse psychology.

Maybe it's just me but I don't see "copy" and then "paste" as an extremely convoluted procedure.
Because copy-pasting is so hard.

Anyway, Mazi, If this were a useful suggestion, I'd commend you. But this is a feature that would take a long time to put up and then one person would use. No offense, but the whole site doesn't bow to your will.

And have you seen the recent additions to the site? Some admins have been very busy, and very few users actually give them credit for it. Maybe for once people will stop complaining as they realize this site is still up and running.

OK, you got me. Yes I am aware of the very useful cosmetic changes made to the site. I also know that coding a system to exchange comments to another site is hard work. A possible solution to want I what would be to get the number of comments that are available in each post. Unfortunately, this is something I don't know how to do, even with feedburner. Until I find a means of doing this I may not be satisfied.

Mazimadu, you are completely underestimating how incredibly complex and painful it is to try and implement this feature, and it would likely only work for blogger, and you are one of like, 4 people who uses that website. This is an absolutely ludicrous request to make. Someone needs to come up with a general solution to this problem before you go around demanding that the admins "stop being lazy." The admins have a million better things to spend their time on then this ridiculous request of yours.

You're making some good points mazi, but you undo it with some caps-lock cruise control. If you had approached the admins with the idea, maybe even volunteered to help program it, we would all be far more receptive.

If your seeing a huge pile of text it's because chrome has crappy rss support. It looks fine in IE, Opera, Firefox and Safari.

@KaBob

Hmm, didn't know Chrome was such a bitch with xml. Thanks for the heads up.

@Juju

As I said earlier, I didn't expect anyone to even bother with this post. I have been playing with php and feedburner for my site and have made some great progress with it. Unfortunately I lack the time and patience to actually make anything tangible(work, college and the like) and would never torture the users of this site on a whim.

Besides, I have been a member since 2006 and have every right to be cynical with you guys. On the interwebs, Cynicism draws debate, and debate draws hits.
